Hi Guys
It's not often if at all that I ask for help here, but my business as a self-employed lawyer is really struggling with the credit crunch right now. To save time, here's what I posted earlier on our homegroup's website a couple of weeks ago:
Great to catch up with some of the chaps last night and thanks for all your prayers about the business. We have had two new pieces of work in this week; the first new jobs since 11th August, so praise God for that! However, the big challenge is going to be the next month on two; it will only be towards the end of October that we will really see the lowered overheads represented by our staff reductions kick in and in the meantime we do not have a great deal of work, which may result in my bringing home little or nothing at the end of September and October in order to keep the business going. Sarah has just returned to work two days a week after her maternity leave and the dilemma for us ATM is whether she should seek to up her days to help make ends meet as and when I'm not bringing home the bacon; this in turn creates its own dilemmas re childcare (can the nursery up Edward and Elise's sessions, will that be too costly, can family assist, to what extent could I have the kids in with me at work if things are quiet here, etc?).
The whole thing is causing us both a lot of stress and grief ATM, particularly Sarah, who has had to cope with a stressed and depressed hubby for several months now.
So, I guess the prayer points are as follows:
1. Enough work to keep me as the main breadwinner in the coming months
2. Wisdom as to when, how and if Sarah should approach her manager for more work
3. Childcare provision and cost of the same if Sarah does increase her working hours
4. That we, and Sarah in particular, be given an emotional boost and that the Lord protects our psychological health and helps us to be united as a family in this difficult time
Kind regards and many thanks
Matt

and today:
OK need urgent prayer again re the business. To cut to the chase, we need to make £15000 by the end of the month to break even and possibly stay afloat. In fact, for 'we' read 'I', since Iain is on annual leave until 28th September, so am finding it difficult to see the wood for the trees in trying to bring to a succesfull conclusion exisiting Work in Progress. Also, the new work coming in has dried/ is drying up, helped no doubt by the events both here and across the Pond this week. So, prayer points as follows:-
1. That I may be able, between now and the 30th, to conclude, bill and be paid for WiP to the tune of £15000
2. That we are blessed with at least one new conveyancing job every working day from henceforth
3. That I retain my sanity in the interim!
Many thanks. Praise and thanksgiving point: Sarah feeling much better!
Bless you all
Matt
