Think this old Disco hit could be sung in church as long as the performer was singing to God?

I expect the Arminian CCM'ers to say no, and the Calvinist CCM'ers to say yes.

    :D

You didn't realize that they were subliminally teaching the sound doctrines of the Bible through their music. Maybe they have been misunderstood. They are a lot deeper than we thought theologically.

No, I didn't! Those Super-per Trouper-per beams were blinding me!

Momma Mia! Is it obvious I was an Abba fan?

You know, if you play that song backwards, it says something like:

    We are the elect
True believers will persevere till the end
All mankind is totally depraved and unable to save themselves
    God is sovereign
    We are the Borg
Drop all your defenses and surrender
    Resistance is futile
    You will be assimilated

I think we should start sending this song to Arminian Churces under some CCM label and have them start singing it in Church... :D

    Abba songs would never work.

    For example, "Dancing Queen"

    Dancing: In a Baptist church?
Queen: The pagan queen of heaven? Queen, as in homosexual?

    :D

Now, I said send this one song, not Dancing Queen. Besides, what if there are some backward subliminal Christian messages in Dancing Queen we don't know about? If just one person is saved due to the sublimanl messages, then isn't it worth it? Who are you to judge this great tool of ministry? ;)

I recently updated my ABBA collection which consisted of vinyl LPs of "Greatest Hits" released in 1975 and "ABBA - The Album" released in 1977.

Now I have a CD of "ABBA - The Album", and "The Definitive Collection" which has 35 songs on it plus two bonus tracks of remixes of "Ring Ring" and "Voulez-Vous".

Seriously, though. If the "you" in this song was understood to be God, do you think it would be doctrinally sound?

I know I've felt like that before. Who hasn't resisted God only to realise that in resisting, you're learning a tough lesson which will bring you to a deeper knowledge of God's grace?

I used to be very fond of "thank you for the music" with just one line to take exception to "who found out that nothing could capture the heart like a melody can - well whoever it was I'm a fan!" - grr! We know who it was!

I sort of hope this thread is a joke. They were and, to the best of my knowledge are, thoroughly pagan. Their music was outstanding; often the words were less so...

However, if you want one of their songs to think about in terms of the Lord, try (I think the title is) "The Day Before You Came." They also did a lovely little one rarely heard about the daughter of one of them growing up, and how it all seemed to be happening too fast.

But "Voulez-vous" and a number of others like "Give Me a Man After Midnight" promote free sex and other such garbage.

Still love the music. Skip a few of the songs, though.

    Helen,

Does this seriously look like anything but a sarcastic joke poking a little fun at those in the backward subliminal message crowd and those in Arminian Churches who will embrace any kind of worldly music as long as it has a CCM label on it? :D

    Helen,

Do you seriously think that this is not sarcastic humor poking a little fun at those in Arminian Churches who will justify all manner of heresy and worldliness by saying that if one person is saved, isn't it worth it? Who are you to judge this great tool of ministry? And the ever popular: When was the last time you led someone to Christ? Next time you lead someone to Christ with the Bible, let us know? We are leading millions to Christ with a lie, so don't judge us. :D
