Nope. I think we've seen too often what happens when these guys are in office too long.

We the people need to take control back since they won't police themselves. 6 years and that's it.

Career politicians seem to lose touch with the people. I want representation that is living and WORKING underneath the same laws that I do.

I agree. But they won't do it. So we're gonna have to help them out. If they go in knowing that we're not going to vote for them again, they might actually do what they were elected to do.

I voted against McConnell in the primary for the conservative candidate. In the general election I voted for the Democrat. McConnell is as hypocritical as it gets. Google McConnell sometime and the circumstances of his discharge from the Army.

That seems more like gossip. He received an honorable discharge for a medical reason, and that's where I'm going to stop. Anything else would be speculation.

I have enough reasons to dislike McConnell, right in front of me.

I just got a copy of my DD214, for a V.A. benefit package, and you cannot tell what kind of discharge is there, due to the degradation of the original. It's from before they kept digital records, and if I had to release it to the public, it would SURELY look like I was hiding something.

So you'd rather have bad government. Interesting.

No, I'd rather have good government. I'm just against the status quo of how that is to be obtained.

Since they refuse to do term limits, let's do it for them.

If they want to govern, then do it in 6 years and get on. There's too many of them doing this to get rich and powerful. That's what private business is for.

One term and then we're not voting for you again.

I can hear them in the Hallowed Halls of Congress all the way down here in SC: Weeping, and Wailing, and Gnashing of Teeth. It is terrible, terrible, Zaacie! I hope the sound carries all the way to hotlanta!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

You're talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I agree that term limits are a good idea; but when presented with the hypothetical that the alternatives are much less capable than the incumbent, your choice is to vote him/her out anyway, thus guaranteeing worse government. So how do you equate that with wanting good government?

Because I believe government works best when the people we elect realize they work for us and that they are not above us.

And I believe the best way to do that is to not allow for the accumulation of power with a handful of individuals who proverbially scratch one another's back because they have been in Congress for 20 and 30 years.

I also believe that the work ethic of those elected will rise, and that you'll start getting more people run who actually want to serve the people and make things better rather than trying to get rich and seize power.

SO yes, in the short term you might get some duds. But overall you'll get rid of the folks who are in it for self instead of their constituents.

Zaac, your ideals are high brother, we should all be praying for God to revive this once great nation. I'm sounding like you now, on the politics forum. :),

I believe He would if His people would humble themselves, repent and stop looking to government and elected offices to fix what only HE can fix.

God has been crying out to us for years to put not our trust in man. The things we are experiencing in this country are heart issues. And the only One capable of changing the heart is Jesus.

So let's give the populace more Jesus.

My point is zaac has been a different person since his absence. A most pleasant one, at that.

You continually vaguely espouse what 'we' ought to be doing. What is that? Whatever it is, are you doing it?

I pray every day for God to send a revival.

Love people the way that Jesus loves you. Love people the way that you want to be loved.

That gives you a platform to speak of His love and why you're doing what you're doing.

You don't have to pray every day for a revival if you're not doing that one thing that will revive the dead. Give em Jesus!!!

A revival will come when God's people humble themselves and repent and start loving folks and pointing them to Him again without getting overly caught up in the non-eternal things of this world.

That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Ecc 1:9

The decline of morals in our society is not my fault, or your's, or any other Christian's fault. These are things outside of our control. If anyone's to blame it's the supposed 'shepherds' that should have been feeding the flock all along instead of fleecing it.

We're in a downside of a cycle here, it'll ultimately make us tougher and better in the long haul, He has promised us that He will not abandon us.
