Libs dont want to water board terrorists like Osama Bin Laden to gain information that will save thousands of lives but they want to destroy innocent human embryos. What kind of sick mind does it take to get your brain wrapped around that.
First of all, you have to have custody of OBL to waterboard him.
Secondly, torture is inhumane.
Thirdly, intelligence gathered by torture is usually false, as the victim says what he think you want to hear to stop the torture.
Fourth, yes, embryos are innocent. So are hair cells, sperm, ova, mouth cells, and the millions of embryos naturally flushed away all the time.
Humans don't come from fertilized eggs that are flushed out naturally, only because they are being expelled. Sperm & ova can become people given the right circumstances (i.e. fertilization and development. Even mouth cells can be cloned into a human being. And I would appreciate it if you would try to stay on the topic of the OT.
DeeJay, again, human babies can think, feel, breathe, touch, smile, laugh, eat, etc. etc. They have lungs, hearts, hands, feet, and cute little cherubic faces. Blastocytes have none of this and calling it "killing babies" is just inflamatory rhetoric not supported by science or scripture.
But to the topic, adult stem cells are being shown to be ineffective. Harvesting them from blastocytes slated for destruction seems to be a good thing.
i have heard it bluntly stated in this city that children are nonessential if not a threat to society whatsoever, and that immortality is the key objective-not another generation to secluar people. At this point not only is the medical field under attack for 'not even wanting to heal people,' but us as well with the notion that Christians don't care about death! It's going to get where we'll all be considered insane and locked up or worse...
And yet none of the things you list is what makes us human. People who are on life support are human people with nerve damage who can not touch are human people who are missing hands and feet are human and even ugly babies without little cherubic faces are human.
Like I said before. Humans procreate. When two humans reproduce the ONLY product that they can make is human. We do not start life as one species and become another. If a 6 month old baby is human then baby who is not born yet is also human. There is only one reason to rename a very young human baby. That reason is to justify murdering it. I dont have any reason to rename a human baby just because of its youth. So you will have to get use to me calling them babies.
MP, I have a question for you. What makes us humans?
That is true, of course. But even people who are malformed, ARE FORMED. Accidents and malformation can occur, that is true.
Humans can of course, only shed, deposit, manufacture, etc. human cells. A human being is a particular development and organization of highly specialized cells. A blastocyte has no characteristics we would generally say are human, short of its DNA makeup. I has potential to become a person, certainly. A pan of batter has potential to become a cake. But it is still NOT a cake; just batter. Unfinished and unbaked, it will never be a cake.
I don't recall anyone making any claim to the contrary
The only one doing renaming is you. Renaming blastocysts "babies". You are free to call them what you wish, but you are being very inaccurate to do so.
More things than I have time to expound about right now, and again, you have managed to divert the thread from the topic I started this to discuss. If you want to talk more about this, you should start your own thread.
the only blame then is to God himself for not showing us that a soul is formed at the exact moment of fertilization. Is it really that hard to provide an inspiration for such a device to detect that? Then again, how harder would it be to advocate for laws on manipulating spirits?
When does a blastocyst become a fetus? Is there some stage between the two? Can you kill a blastocyst as it is becoming a fetus? Can you kill a fetus? When does a fetus become a baby? Is a fetus a human being? Is a blastocyst a human being?
I forgot embryos and zygotes, are they human beings? Can they be killed?
Where do you draw the line? (Scientifically or Scripturally)
The logical end of this utilitarian approach will be a population of
human "predators" that consume/prey upon/destroy a population of human "prey" to further their own existence.
Once you make the step suggested above, there's no logical stop to "harvesting" unwanted kids to serve as biological used-parts stores.
I'm not suggesting that Terry is in favor of what I conclude will happen--but rather that there will be nothing to stop those without a moral compass from eventually doing so.
Right now, the operative question is, "Is it a child?"
It's not that long of a moral decline before the operative question will be, "Is it a useful or well-functioning child?"
From there, we quickly go to, "Is it a wanted child?" and finally, "Is there a market for this child?"
Let's stop the process before it reaches the point of no return, folks.
MP, I have a question for you. What makes us humans?
Everything you could name I can find a human being who is without. Except one thing that you hit on before.
If I am really hairy am I a chimpanze. If I am born with my feet fused into what looks like a fin am I a fish. If I am born with web toes am I a frog. No WHY?
Because my DNA says I am a human. Do your blytoplasts have the same DNA as us? or does it change when they are born? Basing if we are human based on looks is not accurate.
If a detective goes to a crime scene and finds a pool of blood but no body. How do they determin if the blood is from a human?
DNA
Dont they need to see the body to determin if it is human. Dont they need to check to see if it has arms and legs, lungs, smiles a cute face?
