Former Vice President Al Gore is practicing what he preaches. There is a rightie story that has been touted about Gore's Tennessee mansion having a huge carbon footprint. However, over the past year or two, Gore has been retrofitting the 80 year old building to be energy efficient, including rainwater recycling, adding solar panels, installing geothermal heating, and switching from incadescent lighting.
No doubt, it is hard to make a building that old as green as a new house could be, but the former Veep is indeed living by what he preaches. Of course, the Gore bashers would rather criticize the messenger than take on his message, but this is one area where he shouldn't be criticized. Also bear in mind, this is not just a home, but the offices where he operates his ventures.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Al Gore, who was criticized for high electric bills at his Tennessee mansion, has completed a host of improvements to make the home more energy efficient, and a building-industry group has praised the house as one of the nation's most environmentally friendly.
The former vice president has installed solar panels, a rainwater-collection system and geothermal heating. He also replaced all incandescent lights with compact fluorescent or light-emitting diode bulbs -- even on his Christmas tree.
"Short of tearing it down and staring anew, I don't know how it could have been rated any higher," said Kim Shinn of the U.S. Green Building Council, which gave the house its second-highest rating for sustainable design.

I've been working at a house off and on for over a year. My route to that house takes me right by Al's house at least twice a day. I have seen the work trucks regularly over that time. He's doing what he needs to do to, as we say, "walk the walk."

I wonder if he'll start flying in commercial airliners next?

You see, it pays to get your news from a variety of sources, not just from Rush, Fox Noise, and Sean Hannity!
EXCERPT:
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] OSLO, Norway, Dec. 8 Al Gore took the path less traveled -- by celebrities anyway -- to reach Norway to pick up his Nobel Prize, going by train rather than limousine.
The former U.S. vice president-turned-outspoken environmentalist previously had earned a negative reputation for frequently using a private jet and limousine during his travels. But the former U.S. leader altered his plans this week, traveling to Oslo on a commercial flight and then taking the train to the Norwegian capital, Aftenposten said Saturday. (emphasis mine)

I wonder if this is coming out of his pocket or are the "Green House" folks investing in great advertising?

But I'll research for you...if you had read the first link, you'd have seen this:
"The Gores decided to take a series of steps over time that might be logistically or financially out of reach for many Americans," she said. "But they were fortunate enough to have the ability to do so. -

Unfortunately!

I wonder if Gore would be fixing his house and changing his traveling if there hadn't been criticism?

Al Gore won't run for president, because he'd have to debate his movie. He's a big fat liar. I'm glad there are a few smart people left that don't buy into what he says.

MP, when you stop slamming people who you don't like maybe then you can whine about criticism. -

Yup. MP. I know, I'm mind numb from Rush, right. A guy you show lots of partianship love for.
If Al Gore loved the earth, he wouldn't charge 3000 pounds a minuite to speak about it. He loves money...
Also, why did he advise Clinton to NOT sign the KYOTO accords ?
Cuz he's a big fat liar. -

Actually, I practice what he preaches. I live in a very well insulated log cabin, I keep the temp at 68, which is often too hot, we don't have an air conditioner, and the temp reaches 105 very often. I mow my lawn with a hand mower. We buy local produce, local lumber, and I ride my bicycle the 5 miles daily to work, whenever I can.
And you should stop the name calling if you want me to. seems you can say anything you want about the people you don't like, but when the person being exposed is one of your heros, your thin skin won't hold your emotions back.
Al Gore is a false prophet. He won't debate this global warming theory he has, he wants the whole world to accept it. He wants Americans who have made their fortune thru hard work to send their money to third world countries to attone for our supposed sins, while the folks in the third world countries will never see dime one. This is a U.N. power grab, nothing more, and I think you are very gullible to buy ito it. Also, I've noticed it's mostly folks who believe in evolution that fawn over him, while more biblically grounded folks think it's nothing short of idolatry. There are a few exceptions, but overall, it's folks who don't trust the Genesis account, and think those that do shouldn't be able to teach.
His message is a lie. And I'll post what I think, despite who's feathers get ruffled, just like you do.
BTW, didja dee the British trucker who's suing to stop his kids from being brainwashed by his tripe ?
