An absolutely cruel prank.

Please be very careful when visiting The Sun. The site is full of links to nud1ty. It is cheap tabloid that is really loaded with rubbish and twaddle. That does not negate every news story, but be careful.

They should have used a plain unmarked box if all they were giving him was clothes. That's all I ever got for Christmas and my birthday. It was cruel to get his hopes up and then crush those hopes and even laugh at his disappointment. Then they add more cruelty by posting the video online for his friends to see. It's unbelievable how cruel some people can be. My dad loved embarrassing me every chance he could, and that's the sort of thing he would have done had he been able to do it.

The comments said that the kid cheated and looked early at his Christmas presents so the parents did this. They later gave him the game.

So it probably wasn't that bad. But a box full of clothes is probably a better gift than a video game anyway.

Yeah, it was that bad. The dad mocked him, taped it, and put it on the web.

I think more information is needed. The kid may have agreed to it after he found out the prank. The parents may have put it up for other family members to see. My parents played tricks on me with gifts before. It was not big deal.

I think jumping to conclusions is probably unwarranted here.

I am about 70% with Larry here. We don't know the family situation and we are accepting the sensationalization of the press.

My daughter one time insisted she liked black in her bedroom so I painted her walls and ceiling black, flat black...and made her live with it for a week. I was cruel wasn't I? You don't know this daughter. Verbal reasoning would never do with her. The painting did work! She is no worse for the nasty Baptist minister's dastardly deed that evil week...

Cheers,

Jim

I'm surprised about someone from America reading that paper's website. The Sun is basically head of the gutter press in Britain, so its the sort of story they would enjoy printing.
