How does Calvinism explain Scripture from Scripture?
For example, Calvin believed in sprinkling and baptizing infants.
How does that explain Scripture from Scripture?
Why do you insist there be a middle man between God and the believer that reads the Bible?
Are you from the Catholic faith sometime in the past?
Calvinism is a view of Scripture that is quite distinct from that of other professing Christians in the area of soteriology. It has been a part of Historical theology for centuries. You can't get rid of the designation.
Is that news? But he did write commentaries, preach sermons and lecture on quite a bit of the Holy Word of God.
Then I guess you have never opened a Bible commentary or heard a sermon.
Why not? It's when people say stuff like that Calvinism starts to take an idolatrous flair.
Okay. His quite a bit of writing still doesn't equate to GOD's word and folks need to stop arguing and going back and forth as though it does.
Sure I have. But like studying Greek and Hebrew, the study of things outside the Bible are to give you a better understanding of God's word. They are NOT to replace God's word.
And this constant back and forth banter over the teachings of Calvin outweigh the discussion of God's word by many.
You are reading into things rather than simply reading. His words explain Scripture;they are not the Words of God. And besides, this is about Calvinism;not John Calvin.
Naah y'all spend a lot of time arguing about Calvin and his teachings. If his teachings line up with God's word, then talk about God's word instead of his teachings cause it really does come across like some folks have made that man and his teachings into an idol.
God's word, God chooses individuals for salvation through faith in the truth, 2 Thessalonians 2:13.
Calvinism, God chooses individuals for salvation before creation not through faith in the truth.
God's word, God desires all men be saved.
Calvinism, God desires some men to be saved.
God's word, you do not come to me because you are unwilling.
Calvinism, you do not come to me because you are unable.
All people,of all types, categories, classes, languages, people groups -- From among every one the Lord has determined that His elect elect ones will come. The Father gives them to Jesus. Not all without exception by all without distinction.
Calvinism must rewrite scripture, redefining all men, meaning all mankind, to mean all kinds of men, or in other words, not all men.
This is the sort of rewrite that creates mistaken doctrine.
How about God is all knowing, meaning God knows all kinds of things but does not know all things.
This behavior by Calvinists to use one rule here, and a different rule there is just like the JW's and their NWT.
Folks, Calvinism has been shown over and over to be mistaken doctrine, and all the Calvinists do is rewrite verse after verse to pour there irrational doctrine into the text.
LOL
The Lord has not chosen i.e.elected each and every person on the face of the earth past, present and future. Period.
Though the Lord is all-knowing He does does indeed tell some that "I have never known you." Call it a contradiction with all your [edited] heart;but it happens to scriptural.
These men had that kind of god....
27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
The Calvinist slanders deny that all means all if the verse says God desires all men to be saved, yet they take the opposite position and declare all means all when God is all knowing.
It appears they all went to the NWT school of hermeneutics.
The closed theism God of Calvinism is the author of sin because God predestines whatsoever comes to pass, including sin.
To dodge this, they claim irrationally, God is not the author of sin, but just how is a mystery.
LOL
Folks, all they have is shuck and jive.
God's word says things happen by chance, but Calvinism says chance does not mean chance.
ROFLOL
It boggles the mind how anyone starting with a full deck, aka the Bible, could throw out so many cards, God loves the world gone, God desires all men to be saved gone, God sets before us the choice of life and death gone and so forth and so on.
