Show me exactly where in the Bible that God specifically gave you your calling and I will concede. Otherwise, you are just going to have to accept the cold hard fact that God was able to communicate to you (or your congregation) your calling outside of the bible...period. Thus, the claim that God only speaks to us through His written word is absolutely false.

Not me. Did an about-face when I was 27.

You know what they say about the three levels of lies. 1. Lies. 2. D**N Lies. #3. Statistics.

Or "Statistics never lie, but liars use statistics."

You bent and wrenched the text to a pretzel and now you can't extract yourself from it. Less ad hominem - more Bible please.

Utter nonsense. "read" 1 Corinthians 14:1

More Bible -- less creative writing please.

I was raised in the Roman Catholic church. Christ saved me at 17. I spent a couple of decades in various semi-Pelagian type churches until my "Reformation Day",. Both of those changes, and another dozen in-between, were very dramatic, and they were not as I followed the environment I was in.

My deepest theological convictions came out of nowhere, apparently. I credit God's providence, of course.

Regarding statistics, they ALL need interpretation. Statistics don't come with a world view; however, we all do. We all see ALL data through over various word views.

Can this verse be considered Scripture?

The question presupposes an impotent God, helpless to get vital information to His people.

Most Christians understand that the canon was formed, not just by the hands of men, but also through the providence of God.
