Remember the good ole days - a young adult gets in some minor trouble with the law:
Say minor shoplifting or some such thing - and the Judge rules:
"Two years or join the Army"
Should we go back to those days
Especially seeing that by 30 Sep 23- the Army (alone) will be short some 20,000 troops
(which equals about 2 full divisions)
Another Issue to keep people in uniform - is to do away with the up or out policy
And the Judge says....

And that’s why they’re 20k short. They put good soldiers. And they’ve gone woke and lgbt. Who wants to join that? Truly it’s surprising anyone still joins.

I would be very opposed to forcing anyone to join today’s army.
