And the promise of Christ first appears in

Or is it earlier than that? "Let us Make Man in Our *Image*"--2 Cor. 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.;
Romans 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son , in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Christians Must 'Unhitch' Old Testament From Their Faith, Says Andy Stanley
If the content of this article is correct it puts Andy Stanley in the company of other theologians and pastors that want to reclassify the Old Testament as a secondary form of inspired scripture. I take exception to this statement:
"Peter, James, Paul elected to unhitch the Christian faith from their Jewish scriptures, and my friends, we must as well."
This statement could not be further from the truth. The Apostles certainly drew focus away from the Mosaic Law and placed it on Christ but they did not try to unhitch the Christian faith from existing inspired scripture. The author of Hebrews invested a great portion of his time revealing Christ from the Old Testament.
This is where Dispensationalism run amok takes some segments of Christianity. The bifurcation of Old Testament and New Testament is a dangerous thing. While Andy Stanley did not say the Old Testament is not inspired, he did downplay its importance and assigned it to the dusty part of the bookshelf. Click to expand...
I made it where Andy said, “You are not accountable to the 10 Commandments,” and then I zapped the page on my iPad.
So, we are not accountable when we...
Put other gods before Him
Take His name in vain
Murder someone
Telling a lie
Steal from our neighbors

They saw that in the person and ministry of Jesus, all of the OT promises were not being really fufilled, so would they unhitching from the OT then? They were instead completing it!

He’s anti-bible, anti-Sola Scriptura.
He then tries to break the Bible, a book of 66 harmonious books, into segments. Oy vey!

What is really odd is that sometimes the Holy Spirit seems to be, per their accounting, directing them to really strang points and ways, so no wonder they have to get part of the Bible put away!
Must one doubt what
is really going on, as the Spirit would not "unhitch" them from what he inspired to write!

Here is a little something extra... So some will not accuse me of not reading the article... Stanley says lets start from the Apostles... I think we should start with the first Apostle... Brother Glen:)
Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;Click to expand...
Well, those Apostles directed us all way back to Adam and genesis!

Guess Jesus quoted and used OT scriptures, so Stanley is saying now that Jesus should not have been doing that?

The closest I have seen that is in Presbyterian ecclesiology. Presbyterians believe the New Covenant is a refreshed Old Covenant, not completely new. I am as Reformed-friendly as a Baptist can be and reject the Presbyterian view.

I would like to give Andy Stanley the benefit of the doubt but he has made a series of "interesting" statements over the years that strain orthodoxy. Maybe he is just pushing the envelope for the sake of pushing it but when it comes to communicating the truth of God's word to a large and diverse audience, that is not necessarily a good thing.

So I guess this one isn't in his Bible?... Brother Glen:)
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God , and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

He is a public speaker.
His talks are not to be confused with sermons.
Everyone gave him the benefit of the doubt the first couple of times...now he is getting more absurd.
You can drink the koolaid if you want to, but I will pass.
I could not recommend for anyone to go there.
Thankfully.....even in that place God has some faithful Christians like quantumfaith who might help those who enter in there.

That's why I said all four wheels on his wagon fell off. He's not a person to be trusted in the pulpit.
