I thought it was nuclear power. France is the shiz if I recall our last conversation.

Yeah, I am a little surprised at this turn of the conversation from nuclear. But then Kentucky and Indiana are getting kicked in the teeth by the Democrats in this stupid war on coal. Indiana's electrical rates have already gone up with more increases to come. Indiana exports electricity so some of our neighbors will see increases, too. I hope Europe has a boom and leaves Obama behind in a cloud of exhaust fumes.

Politicians are good at one thing. Selling us out for money and power. Harry Reid just gave us another example of how it works. I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is a backroom deal to put coal burning plants out of business to create a favorable situation for the fracking industry.

I believe there will be a ‘natural gas production boom’ (from fracking) in Europe.

I believe there will be a ‘nuclear power boom’ (from Gen 4 technology) in the U.S..

Or maybe the problem is simply a subconscious aversion to any sort of optimism displayed for the future?

No...I'm sorry...just tired last night and I wasn't focusing (and the enemy's of Sovereign. Grace) had my attention...or what was left of it. God love my Old School brothers who come to the rescue though.

Anyway this subject dejects me. We have ample coal resources (that are being ignored) and fracking....well I consider it another stop gap measure. What I cant get outa my mind is all the coal miners that BO lied to and the Fukajema (sic) mess on the nuke side.

I agree about a fracking boom in Europe, and there already is one in the U.S. -- Google "Williston, North Dakota." I'd be enthusiastic about Gen 4 technology if I thought there was the slightest chance in Hades this communist government in the U.S. will ever approve its use. They won't. Puts too much power in the hands of the individual. They'll never allow that.

If that's having a subconscious aversion to anything optimistic, so be it. Pessimism sometimes is actually realism.

Hide & watch, wait & see d-CON, a new nuclear age is just over the horizon, and, Obama admin is actually funding some of the Gen 4 R&D going on right now.

The trend is that even the wacko environmental extremists are coming around to the realization that nuclear is the only way to go.

No, no.....I have confidence that one day it will get done. The technology is in place, the cost savings would be incredible & it is the future. But like most things that are economically & politically driven, this will get implemented at a snails pace.....Japans troubles have not done the nukes any favors. Perhaps when we have an American in office vs a Commie, then things will progress.

Sugar cane works better for gasoline than corn, which is inefficient and damages the environment more than regular gasoline but is a sop to the farmers and their greed.

The Democrats want high gas prices for some reason and they will not allow drilling for oil on federal lands west of the Mississippi. Yesterday the Democrats grabbed a half million acres of New Mexico (the Organ Mountains).

You can make gasoline from coal for $2 a gallon but the Democrats don't want to do that either. The Germans used that technology during WW II so it is nothing new to make gasoline that way. The Democrats say that coal is not renewable and they don't like it anyway.

The Democrats are like watermelons--green on the outside but red on the inside.

Do you know what caused the death of the railroads? Regulations favoring the rubber industry and other regulations that were directly detrimental to railroads, bought and paid for rubber industry lobbyists. So now, instead of every small town in American having cheap rail delivery of goods, they have to pay for the far more expensive and far less efficient over-the-road truck delivery services.

I'm not going to fault the rubber industry, that exercised it's rights to lobby for regulations and legislation that improved their bottom line by selling more tires. But I will fault Congress for being greedy and vile enough to destroy one efficient industry in favor of a weaker, less efficient one. People who criticize industry and special interest lobbying aim at the wrong problem with their fault-finding. The fault lies with the legislative officials. They don't have to take the money offered. In fact, it is incumbent on them that they don't take the money. But greed and the thirst for power among the elected is too great for them to refuse it, even though judiciously thought-out reasoning would tell them to turn it down.

The same thing will happen to Gen 4 technology. GE, Mobile/Exxon, BP, etc., all have vested interest in protecting their investments in oil and gas production while at the same time keeping their options open for other, more efficient fuel and energy sources.

They will prevent the Gen 4 technology from being individually available, but will either lobby and pour funds into Congressional pockets for legislation against "dangers nuclear power in the hands of the public," or they will make the same kind of effort to make sure they control the energy source.

Again, I want to emphasize (primarily for those communists and anarchists around here who blame the industries instead of the legislators): There is nothing wrong with that. It is called "free enterprise" and "capitalism." What is wrong is the elected representatives of the people letting dollars signs and personal greed determine national policy.

Gen 4 will never be produced, or if it is, it will simply become another regulated utility-offered energy source.
