Another Pacer was arrested. Forward Shawne Williams. It doesn't seem too serious by NBA standards--dope was being smoked in the car, the license plate was expired, and their was a stolen handgun out in the open.

Yeah, hold the presses
Williams will be suspended the first three games by the Pacers for driving without a drivers license and for all the bad publicity.
All other charges against him have been dropped by the police for lack of evidence against Williams himself. Apparently, others in the car took responsibility for the stolen handgun. Drugs and drug usage evidently could not be pinned to Williams. He probably will have a big bill from a downtown lawyer who specializes in arrested Pacers. -

Just read on a blog that Williams has never had a drivers license in his lifetime. "To operate a motor vehicle without ever having been licensed is a Class C Misdemeanor, an arrestable offense" according to one comment on the blog.
This is going to cost Williams a lot of money. A lot of people around Indy call the Pacers "thugs."
The NBA needs to have a program of constant drug testing for all players. -

Thank you, CCRobinson!
You are correct--I am wrong.
Here is what the NBA says:

Maybe the problem is that you have to be convicted before you are expelled.
I assume that the Indy Police tested Shawnee Williams and found that he had not been using drugs because he is only charged with driving without a license.
