Another terror attack in London

    Further, what would cause the US to declare war on Napoleon? We didn't have a dog in that fight. Though we did fight the French First Republic in The Quasi War .

    My point was that the prime focus of our efforts was in Europe; the War of 1812 was very much a side show. And we lost New Orleans because you had Andy Jackson which wasn't fair!

    You're being generous, Squire. The Navy was proficient, yet small, but the Army was a shambles.
    Especially since Napoleon practically gave away Louisiana (which he didn't really possess and in violation of treaty) because he needed the cash.

    That was the American SOP until after the Korean War. But as a Coastie, Revenue Marine cutters got their licks in before the Federal Navy was founded. That's why I like to say the Coast Guard is the oldest Federal naval service.
