Don't some KJV Only hold that the KJV itself could be used to "correct" problems in grek/Hebrew texts, as that it is superior for study than those original languages texts?
ANY Here on the BB Hold that the KJV Is Superior to Greek/Hebrew texts?

Probably, there are a lot of idiots out there. But I should think that most KJV onlyists would believe that the Textus Receptus where the KJV comes from is above other Greek texts. But because they believe that KJV is the only inspired translation, they may argue that in you read from the original Greek your translating of that manuscript is inferior to the KJV, and in that way they may discourage you from reading in Greek.
I'm not a KJV onlyist but I do believe that it is the best translation in English. But Greek and Hebrew is far superior. -
What your referring to JesusFan is the official Ruckmanite point of view. Peter S Ruckman teaches that the KJV "corrects" the Greek and Hebrew. Can't remember what book be said this in.

I have mentioned that I am a member of one of the most legalistic IFB churches I have ever heard of and I am staying for the time being because my kids and their kids go there and were into drugs and I am just happy to see them in church.
I know there is no question the members (most I would assume) are Christians because they really preach the gospel.
The pastor says that the KJB is the only Bible which is 100% accurate today. He even asked a Chinese missionary why they didn't get their Chinese Bible translated from the King James English version so it would also be 100% correct. The missionary had a few problems squirming out of that situation.
He mentions the KJB as the 100% correct Bible at least three to five times every sermon. He also preaches by jumping around in the Bible. One verse in the OT where it says "Judah or some other country could come under problems from God if they didn't straighten up their act and he will say that every verse refers to today so he jumps around and makes the Bible say anything he wants it to.
He is into John Chick, Ripplinger and regularly reads from Ripplinger from the pulpit.
All of his sermons are negative. In other words, he acts like the Lord is really moving and says so, but he spends his entire sermon jumping people for either not showing up for church, unless they are on their death bed and telling everybody how liberal the SBC churches are. He took me out to eat and asked me what the SBC's do in their worship services---he didn't even know, but he was calling them all liberals.
The end of the world is soon and it is getting ready to flip 90 degrees on its side and Modern versions are all written by Satan. He has my seven year old grandson believing this and I had him quote John 3:16 (they say the KJV is easy to understand even for kids, yes, they understand the words, but they think the words are modern so they get the wrong meanings in most places. He has memorized John 3:16, he is very bright but he could not tell me one line at a time it what it means from the KJV.
His mother will not let me take him to get an ice cream unless she can get hold of her husband who is the boss of the house without question and must be consulted before anything is done.
The pastor even jumped out the ushers (we have about 45 in church) because they didn't have suits and ties on. All modern Christian music is written by Satan and if you have a "drum" set (although you can have an electric piano) then your church is Satanic. He thinks we have Satanic churches all over town, we have about 20,000 population and yes crack is bad, but I don't know of a single person who has ever said they worship Satan.
He quotes Levay's Satanic Bible which if you study it was put together as a marketing gimmick by Avon books because Anton Levy was acting like a Satan worshiper, so they dressed him up more and made him the high priest of Satan.
Getting to your question, he believes very deeply that the KJB corrects all of the original manuscripts because it is so old and has brought so many people to the Lord. He handed out 1611 Bibles (But they were missing the apocrypha and the introduction and footnotes.) He was pointing out the ONLY changes made in the 1769 Oxford were spelling.
He says the KJB will be the English Bible for the next 100 years if Christ doesn't come first. It is perfect. Its punctuation is perfect (even though the manuscripts didn't have punctuation or even spaces between words.
He brags on himself a lot about how Godly he is and brags that he tells the deacons to choose the next preacher if something happens to him that is just as conservative as he is.
He actually has told parents to spank children who have done things like walked into the sound room which should have been locked and they are 5 years old. A good belt or strap on the bare butt works wonders and keeps your children in line. He kicks people out of the church depending on what he considers is too much sin and there is no vote. It is simply what he decides.
I am going to be leaving and rejoining the local conservative SBC churches because I feel that I may be being called to be a part time pastor to help out in the county with the many churches that do not have pastors or they need a vacation. We only have one associational missionary to cover a LOT of churches.
I was talked into joining the IFB by the pastor, but since I did the attitude has changed because I have to work for the Army Ammunition Plant and often on Wednesday nights, etc. He says you should quit your job and trust the Lord and I'm an electronic engineer that has no other jobs in this area even close to what I do.
His idea of a sermon is to "yell" the entire time in a small room with speakers blarring. They are doing a bus ministry and visitation which is great, but I don't see many people who want to buy into the super fundamentalism with the dresses for women, the KJB while all others are Satanic, Satan is always attacking the church because we are the only church in town following the Bible. Etc. Get the drift. I spelled it all out so you could see it is more than just correcting the manuscripts, but that is an important part. -
Thank you-------- -
Time for all believers to leave that church, as the pastor is one step away from going "Jim Jones/David Koresh!" -
Phillip, I don't know how you have managed to stay at that church as long as you have. It sounds horrible. When you leave and get involved your new church, you won't believe the freedom you will feel. Freedom to worship as God intended. God did not intend to bind us with such heavy loads as the church you have described.
Matthew 11
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. -
Phillip, it loox as if that "pastor" is an example of one of my pet premises-that one false doctrine holds its foot in the door to allow other false docs in. It appears his belief in the KJVO myth has left the door open for some much-worse doctrines and ideas to come in, to the point that this dude isn't doing GOD'S work hardly at all any more, but is spouting stuff invented by the devil.
I would leave that joint so fast that the door would have no chance to hit me in the rear! -

I'd be gone too while encouraging my daughter to do a little research on her own. It's always dangerous whenever anyone takes the pastor's word as being the final authority. I tell my people all the time to check out what I preach. Search it out. Test it. Don't just take my word for it.
