I recently had to upgrade to 9.0 and I cannot access my address book for my email. Anyone know anything about 9.0?

AOL is the largest virus know to computers. (Sorry, just had to say it)
It's been way too long for me to remember much about AOL, other than the best way to use it is to log on, minimize it, and launch a different browser to surf with... freezes up less that way. -
I have AOL 9.0, but it has been awhile since I upgraded to it. I don't recall losing my address book. There is a live AOL help feature that you can talk to a tech person in a chat room that I have utilized in the past that has been helpful. You should be able to locate it under the help tab.

hmm. Thanks guys. That doesnt seem to help either. i cant get to a live chat. Anytime i click on anything, it takes me straight to a page that says Screen Name Setup. And theres nothing else on the page. Maybe I need to re-install.

Did you reinstall from the internet or from a cd?
-
cd. Couldnt get online for some reason, got a new cd today and had to have a tech guy help me install b/c of some probs the old one was apparently causing.
-
ok, I was going to suggest doing it from a cd. It seems there are less problems that way.

Hello,
As I don't use AOL I can't help you first-hand, however in a search I did find someone with the same problem, and this might help.

Look at Post #8 and you will find this:
How address book in AOL works :
The addresses in the address book are stored on the AOL server so you can access it from any computer. But a copy of the address book is also stored on the local computer for offline access in the form of .abx and .aby files.Deleting the .abx and .aby files on the local computer will force the AOL software to download a fresh copy from the AOL server.
so if u have not done this step try this for one screen name:
1. Disable any firewall if you have it.
2. start -->search -> files & folders.
3. Search for ScreenName1.ab*.
4. Delete all ScreenName1.ab* files.
5. Sign on to AOL with ScreenName1 and check if that helped. If there are lot of addresses stay online for sometime for the address book to be downloaded before u attempt to open it. Also try signing off and signing on again if even that did not help.
5. If that does help repeat step 2,3,4,5 for other screen names.
Now, in attempting this, I WOULDN'T Delete the files in step 4, I would rename them to something else, including changing the file extension from .abx and .aby to something like FileName.yournamex and FileName.yournamey This way you know you're not deleting anything, in case it doesn't work..
Also, in this thread, it mentioned that if you were to log in from the web at www.aol.com you should be able to see your address book from there since AOL keeps a copy on their server and your computer.
I hope it works out!
Jamie
