Just came across this web page -
but I'm too tired to dig any deeper.
The first few paragraphs are about modern translations - so scroll down just a bit, to where the KJV discussion begins.
Are there mistakes in the KJV?

The article points out many of the translational flaws in the KJV, but this struck me:
1John 5:7-8
Text to Remove: "in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth,"
Comments: Most modern translations agree that this was an uninspired addition to the Latin Vulgate to support the unscriptural doctrine of the trinity.
So I wonder about the theology and motivation of the author. The author denigrates the KJV and the NIV, NASB, etc. so I wonder which Bible is preferred? -

I am just waiting to see how quickly this thread gets closed, because it is about the KJB.
(Oh but, this thread is talking about it’s errors;)
So it will stay open! -
Everything look fine until I read their doctrine on baptism reflected in their FAQ board.
Someone asked if they needed to be baptised to go to heaven.
The answer: "According to the Bible, baptism is a requirement for salvation (Mark 16:16; Titus 3:5)"
also "When baptized our sins are forgiven and spiritually washed away (Acts 22:16)".
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
If by "baptism" they meant the Baptism of the Spirit they should have said so.
Later they say "The physical act of baptism is not what cleanses us of sin"
No one who knows the Scripture would be so duplicitous to say such contradictory things.
In and of itself, it's a blinking red light at very least.
They later also commented that people don't "go to heaven" without an immediate explanation.
I chased it down and they quoted Garner Ted Armstrong (using his name) concerning the annihilation of the soul.
Nuff said?

No offense Stillearning but perhaps the reason your threads get shut down is because you start them with an obvious agenda. I don't think Salty has an agenda behind his thread.

Seriously, just looked like an interesting web page to discuss -
Salty, I saw that site several years ago, & the "Trinity" thingie immediately waved a HUGE red flag in fronta me. Apparently the author thinx the doctrine is false cuz the term "Holy Trinity" is not found in Scripture. He couildn't be more wrong in this belief!
The term "Holy Trinity" is an English shortcut used to mention Father, Son, & Holy Spirit collectively.
As for the fact that each is an individual Personage, this is one of the plainest of implied doctrines in all Scripture, as Scripture calls each one of'em "God" in sundry places. And we see all of them individually and separately in the story of Jesus' baptism.
To whom did Jesus pray? If He was not a separate Perrsonage from His Father, why pray to Him? And Jesus said He could forgive blasphemy against Himself, but not against the HOLY SPIRIT.
Far as I'm concerned, newer Christians should be warned about any site that denies this plain, basic doctrine of Christianity.
Another issue on that site Hank mentioned:
As a Baptist, I believe that a new Christian should be baptized ASAP, but that isn't always possible in Barrow, AK. And we have the story of the repentant thief on the cross beside Jesus, whom Jesus saved despite the fact that this thief couldn't possible be baptized. BAPTISM IS 4 THE ALREADY-SAVED! IT IS NOT A PREREQUISITE 4 SALVATION! -
Another VERY SERIOUS GOOF occurs in his Matt. 27:49 commentary when he sez that JESUS' death came about when a soldier pierced His side with a spear. This lie is refuted in John 19.
From the NKJV:
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. 36 For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”
