None of the answers apply to me. I just simply don't watch it because it doesn't interest me. I have no reason to hate since I've never seen it. What I hate are commercials.
-
Well I dont "hate" it either, but no other one applied for me. I have never seen an episode and dont even know when or where it comes on lol. And its ok. :)

 I only watch the first few weeks. American Idol is at its best when Simon is at his worst! :tonofbricks:

Since the wife is a loyal fan, in seasons past we would watch the entire season. Due to work this year, I've seen one episode, and I couldn't tell you anyone who made it to the top 12 except some guy with Farah Fawcett hair named Sanjaya.
-
can't stand it, that one guy is totally mean, and thats not necessary.
-
Hate it - too carnal. Romans 8:4-9.

I watch the try-outs, but that's about it.
I love seeing people who think they can sing being told they can't. From the way they sound, most of these people should know already that they have horrible voices.
I've been told I should try-out, but I already know, no matter how good my mama says my voice is, it ain't good enough for that. Without being too vain, I admit to having a pretty nice tenor voice, but I save it mostly for use in church, or singing in the truck or the shower. And, I could still sing the socks off of most of the loudmouths they show trying out.
I quit watching when the try-outs end. I just like the funny part.
I have seen a couple snippets of that Sanjaya "singing". He is awful. They should throw him out without a vote. -

i tend to watch Canadian Idol. :p
cause i live in canada. -
I agree with Gekko. Canadian Idol seems to select better singers. I never miss a showing. I also try to learn as much as possible about the lives of each candidate. Their history adds to the pleasures of the shows.
This year's American Idol has been horrible with the exception of the two lead singers. Otherwise, no contest.
The odd part this year is that Sanjaya, the centre of criticism, sings every week in his church choir and a gospel group. He attends an evangelical church in Washington State. Chris Sligh is the son of missionary parents, attended Bob Jones University and sings gospel all over the Carolinas,,where he lives.
I think the song selections are limited and they are never allowed to sing gospel as a category.
Cheers,

I love it!
I do wish Sanjaya would get voted off. He is ridiculous.
As a side note, Michael W. Smith is supporting Jordin this year.
She used to be on tour with him.

I predict the top three this year will be Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordin.
Let's see if I am right...
If Sanjaya wins, it will destroy AI.
The best one to come out of AI is Carrie Underwood. -
OK, guilty...i watch American Idol.

Let's be honest, a lot of times Simon Cowell just says what we really are thinking...
