Down went Larry McQuilliams, and so ended his rampage through the streets of the Texas capital, where he’d fired more than 100 rounds from his AK-47 and .22-caliber rifles at buildings. Well I see 4 possibilities:
1 Simple divine intervention
2 Pure dumb luck
3 The guy knew the ballistics of his weapon better than the mfg did. Or
4 Some combination of all the above.

I would tend to go for # 4 with a very healthy dose of #1 !!!!

And what about a certain amount of practice?

Granted, 100yd shots are not typically made with a pistol.

There are two old-timers (older than me at least) who practice 3-4 times per week by shooting clay pigeons set up on our club's 100yd berm with revolvers. Been doing it for years, and are good at it.
