Well that's a shame God can't work outside the Catholic Church in
Minnesota. (It must be those nasty mosquitoes).

Here in Nebraska. God works freely in non-Catholics and Catholics alike.

I would use to defend the papacy if I had copious
amounts of spare time to waste conversing with you.

God said to go to the uttermost parts of the earth and spread the gospel.

Either you're getting lax on your obedience, Thes, or YOUR gospel
    isn't very important !! ;)

No actually it's very important. That's why I teach it to my kids and that is why I will be debating that very topin in October in public forum. I just don't have time to waste on your anti-catholic manuevering and distortions at this time. Especially since I believe prayer and a good excercism is the only way to get through to you.

And yes, I know that the Holy Spirit works outside of the Catholic Church. Otherwise those who came to it would be able to claim part of their salvation for themselves. Mosquitoes do have a difficult time getting much right when it comes to teaching about scripture however.

What do you prescribe....exorcising the Holy Spirit from me and taking away my
claim to salvation by grace through faith and replace it with a bunch of beads,
    a Kool-Aid skull cap, a flyswatter and a can of RAID ??

You make me wonder what witnessing consists of in the RCC. Makes me wonder
what you'd say to a needy soul who is looking to you for some words of hope.
Would you begin with...."First you have to join the Catholic Church", then you have
to believe that you're eating Jesus (Actually), then you have to ask a guy behind
a closed door to forgive your sins, then you have to show up for a thing called Mass
every week or you've committed a mortal sin that can send you to hell.

    H E L L ..........that's where he is NOW !!

Is THAT what you call Good News ?

I've warned my children and grandchildren of the woes of Catholicism and thanks to
God's Grace and the power of prayer; I don't have one for an immediate relative.

*Neighbor kid married a Catholic; took the instruction and bit the bullet.
We drive his vehicle often and it's both pleasing and amusing to see that his
    radio is set to all the Evangelical Christian Programs. He's not a good Catholic;
never will be and I know his mother is instructing his kids to the beat of a
    Non-Catholic drum

You can snooker all of the people some of the time and some of the people
all of the time, but you can't snooker .............

    Ah...you know how it goes

Hi Ron, Hope things have been going well for you.

    Ron writes: ""Hi Brian,

The problem is then, you don't know if you are saved or not because you don't know if you will persevere to the end in faith or not.

OSAS becomes a bit meaningless then doesn't it?""

Actually, if that was all there was to it maybe you would be right. However, God says in scripture that His Spirit bears witness to our spirit that we are the CHILDREN OF GOD. The child of God knows who he is. We may vary in some interpretation, worship style, way we serve, but then again siblings are never exactly alike. Siblings do though have one sure thing in common and that is they are from the same blood line. So it is with believers, our FATHER is the same though we may differ.

    Glorious,
Please respond directly to my post on the bottom of page 13 as well as this one. Thanks.

Thess and Yeslew, good discussion on the seed and sower. Remember, this parable was not meant to be terribly deep. We are simply the soil. Weather God's word saves us depends on how we respond to His Word. The plants that grew and then withered or were choked by weeds and died never rooted. Yes I know technically a root grows first but that is the point the plant growing is not what saves it is the root syetem, marked by the readiness of the soil that saves. The plants that grew just represent knowledge of the truth but the knowledge is never taken in. The seed changes only on the outside, the inward change, never occurs because the soil is no good. Thats the way i see it anyway and also the way I feel Jesus explains that parable himself.

    In Christ,
    Brian

Hi Glorious, You are right about staying humble. In this forum I believe our Christian witness goes out the window when we lose sight of that and post harsh things.

That said I was hoping you would respond to my last post because I would like to discuss OSAS with you. If you would not like to that is fine but i think it could be interesting.

BTW, my dealings recently with Thess. have been very positive. Seems like a real decent person to me

Personally, I don't think Thes and I could agree on the time of day, and we're
even in the same time zone.

I'll show ya what I mean.

Ok, Thes, it's now 10:47 am CST (Daylight Savings). ;)

    (Sorry for being childish).

This forum is not for making friends and other social niceties. it is rather like it says, Christian DEBATE. There are many chatrooms where you can win friends and influence people. Here it is taking a position and defending it. Having a stand on an issue and as clearly, in non verbal communication, as possible providing the reasoning and rationale for having that stand.

If you do not have a firm stand, you'll fall for anything!

I think we can debate and stay within the following guidlines, especially if we desire knowledge.

    2 Peter 1
2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
    5: And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
    6: And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7: And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8: For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9: But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

These verses should speak directly to our hearts.

    In Christ,
    Brian

Before you finish this thread, you asked if we might debate OSAS sometime.
I am happy to do that sometime .... but prefer it to be perhaps on a separate thread with just you and me. I am into peaceful discussions, and have a slow thinking brain, so would like to do this nice and slowly!
    To confirm ....
I am not into OSAS, and you are... right?

    Let me know sometime:)

    Glorious.

    Hi Glorious,
Another thread would be fine. I too like peaceful discussions because I like to really listen to what my brothers and sisters in Christ have to say and that is hard when insults are being flung around.

Yes, I believe OSAS because I believe Eternal means Eternal. How do we set up a private debate? I have never done that before.

Let me know how and when we can continue

    In Christ,
    Brian

See how that number can slip upon a person.

I don't have anything to say, but I don't want my last post to say anything concerning anti-christ.

Now, doesn't that look better?

Do you truly believe that the Catholic Church equates to Salvation?
