I just bought elephant garlic the other day, it was HORRIBLE. VERY bitter, although it's supposably "mild and sweet". BLICK!

I AM NOT GOING TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GARLIC I LOVE IT... CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT MY HUSBAND WHEN HE KISSES ME!!! I JUST HAD A GREAT LITTLE TREAT FROM A LADY AT WORK IT WAS A FRUIT PIZZA (DON'T KNOW HOW SHE MADE IT) BUT MY QUESTION IS I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DESSERT TO SHARE AT WORK TOO ANY IDEAS? ALSO DOES ANYONE HAVE THE RECIPE FOR CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS (I LOVE THEM), OR AN INEXPENSIVE SPINACH LASAGNA?
THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU EVERYDAY!
JESSICA -
Chocolate peanut butter bars? Is that the one wiht oats in them, all cooked on top the stove, no baking? If so I have it too. A dessert, huh, finger food, or plates and forks? A simple pie maybe, like chess pie, which I love. I'll look see what I have saved on my computer.
-
I am thinking that the crust is like crushed graham crackers and peanut butter and then melted chocolate on top and put in the frig I don't think there is oats in it! I was thinking about a desert that I could just put on napkins but tell me about this chess pie sounds neat!
Thanks -
Not sure about the recipe you wanted but found a few good looking things on my computer you might like.

You must have gotten a bad bulb of elephant garlic. I had to buy it recently because the regular garlic was really bad, and it is alot milder in flavor which I do not like, but it was not bitter or sweet in flavor....

Hey! I lost my recipe for Cherry Dump Cake. My daughter and I were talking about it the other day. Thanks!
Sherrie -
Hi There!
Saved4Life, that dump cake recipe is really good with one can of Cherry Pie Filling and another can of crushed pineapples.
Kate, I would really appreciate that recipe of the Fourth of July Beans if you have it cause it is absolutely delicious. I've substituted Ground Turkeye for the Hamburger and made it with substitute brown sugar to make it sugar free for my Diabetic relatives and it is always good no matter how I altered it.
I've been down for over a week with bronchitis and asthma acting up so haven't gotten back with you about that. (I bet you were wondering weren't you) Anyway, it feels better to be better!
God Bless,
Rebaros

Becky,
Do they make a sugar free brown sugar substitute? I am diabetic and I use equal in everything I cook or bake that calls for sugar and I have never ever heard of sugar free brown sugar...
Where do you get it from? -
Have you all tried "Splenda" it is much safer.
Sherrie -
Sherrie,
Breathing isn't safe anymore!! Especially where I live. I like equal... I don't much care for splenda, need to use more. -
Splenda is so much safer though!! Equal (aka NutraSweet aka aspartame) is a very dangerous substance. It was banned in the US for nine or ten years, and then suddenly out of the blue (thanks to someone's deep pockets, I'm sure) they approved it. It has been the cause of many SERIOUS problems, from short-term memory loss (my MIL is affected this way), to migraines (my dh gets 'em from even a little of it), to convulsions, to even death.
Just to let you know. -
I've never heard of Splenda, but I use Equal in my coffee (when I drink coffee). Whatever happened to Saccharin???
Thanks for the tip!
Blessings,
Sue -
Hi Laura,
I don't remember the brand of sugar free brown sugar substitute, but when I go grocery shopping tomorrow I'll see if I can find it for you ok!
About Aspertame. I used to work for a Mobile Intentive Care Unit out of The Toledo Hospital and read a book about Aspertame because I was drinking alot of Diet Mountain Dew. After reading this book I cut it completely out of my diet. What I noticed in myself was that I used to wake up in the mornings and my thinking was really foggy. It took awhile before I was fully awake. After about a month off of the Aspertame I started waking up with a clear mind and more alert. I noticed that I was remembering alot more of the things I was studying and could make quicker decisions when dealing with my job.
I would suggest you do some research on your own before taking anyone's opinion.
I have switched to Sweet and Low and use it in my coffee in the mornings.
God Bless!

Our city is celebrating it's Sesquicentennial this year and every night in our Courier, there is a small editorial written from over a hundred years ago. I thought this one might be of interest to you ladies. It was written in 1859.
How and When to Eat Fruit
"Hall's Journal of Health" says: "Fruit should not be indulged in between meals as though it was a luxury, but used in moderation at meal time, in the place of animal and other food.
It should not be eaten for dessert, after a full meal which cannot be too severly reprehended. Fruit may, with safety, be eaten at any meat; but it would be well to confine it to breakfast.
The old will be found true by practice; "Fruit is gold in the morning, silver at noon and lead at night."
Let it constitute a part of the breakfast, and be eaten at no other period of the day; let it be ripe, and eaten moderately, and incalculate benefits will arise from it's use, both in preventing the access and staying the progress of disease during the summer and fall months.
(Oh, how far we've come in our thinking since this was written....think there might be some truth in it?)
Blessings,
Sue -
