"bho" disingenuous about United States and Colonialism

WIKI:
Islam is thought to have first been adopted by peoples of the Indonesian archipelago sometime during the eleventh century, although Muslims had visited the archipelago early in the Muslim era. By the end of the 16th century, Islam, through conversion, had supplanted Hinduism and Buddhism as the dominant religion of the peoples of Java and Sumatra. At this time, only Bali retained a Hindu-practising majority, and the eastern islands remained largely animist but would adopt Islam and Christianity in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Hmmmm....looks to me like it was the other way around, ISLAM supplanted Hinduism and Buddhism.

And Obama's statement was referring to the US. The US has never colonized a muslim nation, whether indiginous religion was supplanted to islam or not.

Europeans arrived in Indonesia from the 16th century seeking to monopolise the sources of valuable nutmeg, cloves, and cubeb pepper in Maluku. In 1602 the Dutch established the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and became the dominant European power. Following bankruptcy, the VOC was formally dissolved in 1800, and the government of the Netherlands established the Dutch East Indies as a nationalised colony. By the early 20th century Dutch dominance extended to what was to become Indonesia's current boundaries.

Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world.

16th century
1602
1800

So this is what Obama meant by "more recently"?

The sentence before that says: "tension between the United States and Muslims around the world - tension rooted in historical forces" so he is referring to the US. He is not referring to the British empire or some other country, the reference is clearly to the history of the US. You can't make any of us believe it was an oversight and that he was not referring to the US. He wouldn't even have had to take a breath between the two sentences. It is a lie.

You're not interpreting this correctly. The West means "The West."

We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world - tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate. The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of co-existence and cooperation, but also conflict and religious wars.

Lady Eagle is interpreting what "bho" said correctly. He is lumping the United States in with Europe on both Colonialism and the Crusades. It is not possible that "one so brilliant" as "bho" is ignorant of American history so he is obviously slandering this country. But anyone who does not bow down to "bho" expects that sort of behavior from him.
