Pros
health insurance
have an outlet besides home and church
have outside contacts besides church members
display a good testimony to others at work
little better financial budget
if you leave the church, you still have an income elsewhere
you better understand the needs of your working people and are more forgiving if they cannot always be involved every time the door is open.
You learn to better manage your time because it's crucial to survival
Cons
Never enough time to do it all, especially visitation and outreach
sometimes work demands conflict with church needs
sometimes you tend to put family time last
Church still expects you to be "full time" pastor with a part time salary
Church never wants to give you a raise or bonus because "after all, he already has an income" -
Not all churches can afford to pay a pastor a livable salary. However, working two jobs can prevent a pastor from having the time to pastor and counsel the church folk, or to find time for proper study.
