He claims the New Testament Gospels are contradictory, but he never says how.
He also is incredulous that anyone could take the bible literal and believe that Adam and Eve, Jonah, etc, were real people.
He says the bible is mostly allegorical (sounds like a full preterist :)) and can't be taken literal.
Not that being Catholic is synonymous with pinhead, but Bill O'Reilly is a practicing Catholic.
Is it now the view of the mainstream American Catholic that the Bible has contradictions?
That is why I did not put this OP in the theological or Baptist sections.
But it is newsworthy to note what he said and get comments. I was surprised to hear this from a man who has described himself as practicing Catholic.
Well Bronco. Id like him to define to me what a practicing Catholic is....BTW Joe Biden makes the same claim but the Bishop of Scranton wont give him any sacraments. Does a practicing Catholic endorse abortion etc
I wonder if sacraments could be withheld from O'Reilly for saying the bible is contradictory?
Or would that only happen if he said the Pope was contradicting the bible? Or vice versa?
I am so confused.
The thing with the errant teaching coming out of those who are mired in the bad teaching in the Catholic Church is that they are viewed by most of the world as the standard of Christianity.
If Bill, a Catholic, says that the Bible contradicts itself, then a large chunk of humanity is gonna think that's what Christians believe because Catholics are viewed by the world as THE Christians.
I believe there is merit to my statement EW&F. I mean if you look in the movies, it's always the Catholic Priests. So many of the folks in the media/tv/movies identify as Catholic so things are often presented with Catholicism equated with Christianity.
Sean Hannity, Chris Matthews, Laura Ingraham, Stephen Colbert, O'Reilly, etc.
Bill O'Reilly is biblically illiterate.
He has also written a new book titled Killing Jesus, in which he "explains" why Jesus was killed (historically speaking).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FARDDcdFaQ Bill debating Richard Dawkins 1:42 in the video "I'm not positive Jesus is God but I'm throwing in with him." This is a lost guy according to scripture John 8:24 and if that upsets some....so be it.
O'Reilly is also a liberal on the marriage question--totally out of line with Catholicism.
I think that he is best described as a Cafeteria Catholic--one who goes down the line and takes only what he likes in Catholic dogma.
Clearly, he is a Sunday School dropout.
A lot of Catholics only go to church three times in their lives, when they are hatched, matched, and dispatched.
