Well...sort of. Wal-Mart is trying to reach out to regain the Church support. I think this is a weak statement, that leaves the door open to do whatever they want. But..this is a step forward. To me, the boycott is still on. Wal-Mart sales have slipped a small amount, while Target, Sears and Krogers have gone up. Its hard to tell in a short span if this was because of a boycott, but Wal-Mart was taking notice of what the Church has said.
The big Boycott was to be this Friday (black Friday)and Saturday the two biggest shopping days of the year. My guess is that people would have still went to Wal-Mart even if they didnot release this statement.
Thank God for those who took a stand.

Go to yahoo/scottrade/fidelity and run a 6 month Competitors chart.
http://finance.yahoo.com/charts#chart1:symbol=wmt;
Click on 3m at the lower part of the chart...for a 3 month look.
Add TGT (target), SHLD (sears), even DG if you want...to get a overall look. :)
You will find that the growth of the other 3 are about the same, while wal-mart was off a bit -
A stock chart is not a sales chart. Stocks go up and down for a variety of reasons.
Wal-Mart is not the church. It is silly to expect it to act like it is. -
From the link I posted

How can you tell which boycott worked? Wal-Mart is on multiple boycott lists.

Is there any organism here on earth these days who can without a trace of doubt say, we are the Church ?
No disrespect and I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I find references to "the Church"
rather vague and confusing.
If you had said 'the churches', small case, there would be less vagueness because now we understand you mean local churches calling themselves in Christ, but differing in doctrine, stances, polity, and such.
But if one says, "the Church", with C in uppercase, to my mind, it refers to One organism, united in purpose, united in doctrine, and most assuredly the original church founded by Christ. If you mean that, then I beg to differ, because I don't think "the Church" founded by Christ, if it still is on earth today, could care less about Wal-Mart or Abercrombie, because it knows that judgment finally rests on the hands of its founder and Savior, Jesus Christ. -
For some reason christians expect people of sin to act like the redeemed.

When Wal-mart was told of the boycott by church groups, it said at 1st..."Thats ok...we are to big for that to hurt us". Wal-mart did not view us as a group to worry about. Yet they worry about winning over other groups. Now they have changed and at least are trying to listen. -

Being that you have not heard of a boycott, does not mean there is none.

Also, because I have taken up a boycott (BTW...my 1st boycott :) ), does not mean sales are down because I stopped shopping.
However I do think its something that Wal-Mart pulled back from their support. Would you not agree? -
IMHO boycotts never accomplish anything. Most people never know about them and those that do, forget. A simple letter to your local store or to their headquarters, by just a few people, would accomplish much more. I used to boycott many stores till I figured out it didn't hurt anyone but me. My wife didn't even boycott with me.
