Looks like the Bush administration wants to make sure that what is put out in public agrees with its policies, regardless of what General Patraeus reports. I am not surprised in the least.

Senior congressional aides said yesterday that the White House has proposed limiting the much-anticipated appearance on Capitol Hill next month of Gen. David H. Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker to a private congressional briefing, suggesting instead that the Bush administration's progress report on the Iraq war should be delivered to Congress by the secretaries of state and defense.

Bush Hedging on Patraeus Report

Thanks to the recent Executive Order:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html
there are now two rules:
1. President Bush is ALWAYS right about Iraq. If we need more troops, more money, or more time, he must get what he wants.
2. If President Bush is wrong in his policy on Iraq, see rule number 1.
If they want to have these reports done behind closed doors, then it is simply none of our business.
Of course, there is another Executive Order that came out about Lebanon:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/08/20070802-1.html
I am not sure what is going to happen, but the same rules apply.
You need to remember that.
Hope all is well,

from the article:
White House officials did not deny making the proposal in informal talks with Congress, but they said yesterday that they will not shield the commanding general in Iraq and the senior U.S. diplomat there from public congressional testimony required by the war-funding legislation President Bush signed in May. "The administration plans to follow the requirements of the legislation," National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said in response to questions yesterday. -
The White House says it will obey the law, yet it held talks with Congress to attempt to get around having to obey the law.

G Bush is a type of Catholic minded man.
He is grown in the Episcopalian family and educated among the Episcopalians though he married Methodist and known to be converted to Methodist.
In the eyes of Catholic groups such as RCC, Church of England, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Episcopalians, the fundamental Baptists and Brethren are cults.
Episcopalians are the American version of Anglican church which is not much different from RCC except headship of Pope.
The misjudgments by such mindset can cause lots of casualties.
Remember that even Calvin said " there is no salvation outside the Holy Catholic church". Calvin who is called the father of Presbyterian taught the Infant Baptism, Baptismal Regeneration, Clergy system, Baptism by sprinkling, condemning the Donatists and Anabaptists.
If the true Christians defend such Catholic mindset, they will be tired of so many errors and mistakes.

Is this close to Protestants ?
Do the Protestant churches have dioceses, priests, bishops?

This is why he appointed 2 Catholics as Supreme Court Judges, called the Crusade toward Afghanistan, held the ceremony at Washington Cathedral after 9/11, said in London " we are serving the same God, between Islam, Christians, etc."
