WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush said his belief that God created the world is not incompatible with the scientific theory of evolution.

In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" on Monday, the president also said he probably is not a literalist when reading the Bible although an individual can learn a great deal from it, including the New Testament teaching that God sent his only son.

I am quite surprised he said his belief is not incompatible with evolution. This is one of the better insights he has had.

I heard the program.... and I take the Bible more literally.

If President Bush was a preacher or religious leader, I might expect more; but in his office as President, President Bush sounds like a man of faith.. His position most probably isolates him from more fundamental instruction and guidance, but he acknowledged on that program, his understanding of his own weaknesses and confession and belief that Jesus is the way: He refused to carry the interview to the level of discrediting others as being inferior or condeming them because they weren't Christian.

What Mr. Bush said went way beyond just theistic evolution. He rejected literlism altogether, and espoused universal salvation.

Well, do keep in mind that Mr. Bush was born in Maine and didn't know where PEI was. Come to think of it, he even had a memory relapse about his drink driving charge in Maine. He might be confused about a few things, but otherwise a pleasant chap.

Cheers,

Jim

A lot of people on this board have said the samething, and some have gone so far as to say evolution is true and creation is iffy.

It sounds like his answers were very vague, and put together to come to the conclusion the interviewer wanted (what a surprise). I wish he would have taken a harder line stance, but what do you expect from someone who is trying to please everyone.

Micro evolution is a fact, so I have no problem with God's hand in this evolution.

Bush really let me down on night line when he was ask if he thought all the Bible was true, He answered,"Probably not." The only thing I see the Bible say of the parables that Jesus said, they were parallel to someones incident in life. I was let down by the fact that he could never use the name, JESUS CHRIST, he onlu used the name CHRIST several times. My wife and I said that it seemed that he was a people pleaser.

The Bible has contained inside "There is no God", so I guess Bush is probably right that ALL of it is not true...

Bush is a liberal? I do believe that's the first time I've ever heard that. I'll have to write this in my journal. :)

Unfortunately many professing Christians have compromised the Biblical teaching of creation with the claims of evolution and embraced a concept called theistic evolution teaching that God uses evolution to accomplish His creative purposes. The term theistic evolution is self contradictory since the fundamental postulates of evolution are unlimited time and chance without design. The following remarks by leading evolutionists [from The Modern Creation Trilogy by Henry M. and John. D. Morris] show the absurdity of theistic evolution.

Nobel prize winning biologist Jacques Monod writes:

Natural selection is the blindest most cruel way of evolving new species. .... I am surprised that a Christian would defend the idea that this is the process which God more or less set up in order to have evolution.

Evolutionist A. J. Mattell is even more perceptive:

Those liberal and neo-orthodox Christians who regard the creation stories as myths or allegories are undermining the rest of Scripture, for if there was no Adam there was no fall; and if there was no fall, there was no hell; and if there was no hell, there was no need of Jesus as Second Adam and Incarnate Savior, crucified and risen. As a result the whole biblical system of salvation collapses. .... Evolution thus becomes the most potent weapon for destroying the Christian faith.

Literally speaking everything in the Bible is not true. The first lie in the Bible is recorded in Genesis 3. I believe that the Bible [in its original autographs] is a TRUE RECORD of everything that God wished to reveal to mankind. That included Satan's lie.

PS: I am not shouting, just emphasizing.

I think it needs to be clarified that theistic macro evolution is not true, but theistic micro evolution is fact.

Satan told the lie, God or the bible did not, what is true is that satan did say it.

You just got here. Bush always has been liberal. He has been rightly called so several times, right here.

So, are you staying, or not ?
