    It's a little frustrating as I just came back to the forum and don't mind discussions but a lot of peeps in here are ruthless. Oh well. Such is.

    For me it's politics. Politics brings out the wrathful side of me.

    JonC,

    I know many Calvinists that used the Romans road. They just used the whole road.
    They filled in the potholes and missing portions of the road.
    Know ing that what you win them with, is what you win them to, they filled out the road using portions of Romans that get skipped by.

    I think the problem is often those opposed to one method or tool (like the Roman Road or EE) assume the method is all that is ever said. Insofar as evangelism, I do not know that the gospel itself is insufficient. The thing is we are not called to merely proclaim the gospel but to also disciple people.

    If you want to start a thread about the Roman Road I would be interested in what you believe those passages skip over (what you believe these "pot holes" to be in terms of evangelism). Personally, I believe these tools are good to help at first (we need to learn to articulate the gospel in evangelism). But more importantly we need to learn to articulate the gospel in our daily lives and in our conversations with others.

    But you are right that sometimes peopke make assumptions based on their experience or expectations that are often wrong.

    JonC,

    from the OP.
    But in post45;
    in post50;
    in post68;
    You were trying to make a point here, and yet you seem to do what you say we should not do???see post 45.
    Why not let people express what they want and stand by what they post. If you feel the way you do in post 45, fine...others feel as they do, that is also fine.

    You have misunderstood.

    It is one thing to say that from my experience many Calvinists are combative towards other believers. It is another to say Calvinists are combative towards other Christians.

    Do you not see the difference? The first statement explains a perspective while the second exposes a predjudice.

    We have experiences and form our opinions on these experiences. But it is not correct to assume that one small segment appies to the whole.

    If we stick to doctrine we will not make this error. If we get into opinions we need to make sure as best as possible that we are being honest.

    Many have expressed concerns about Calvinists that may not apply to the whole (e.g., arrogant, cage stage, dishonest, ect). That may be their experience and they can speak of their experience - but applying that to all Calvinists is a a mistake (and a logical fallacy).
