Featured Calvinists & Arminian Together

Quite a bit including doctrine found in the titles given above.

 

I'm not quite sure what meaning "radical Christian" is freighted with --but from your theological description you are at least Calvinistic --if not a Calvinist.

 

OK....tell me bout A cappella singing? Do Calvinists do that? :smilewinkgrin:

I have zero problem being called a Calvinist. That way they can make that "eck face", and form a cross with their two index fingers as they slowly step back. :laugh:

Some do these days. Spurgeon was very much against musical instruments in the church though he supported the Moody/Sankey campaigns which featured those elements. (By the way, I favor the stance of John Kennedy and J.K. Popham who opposed M&S for good cause).

Some Calvinists, even today sing the Psalms --no hymns.

You can call these things radical --but does that make you a radical Christian?

Oh, so now you are a member of the club? Is it any better than the Non Calvie club? See I don't want to be a member of any club.... that's all there is to it. I ask too many questions & I dont play well with others.

 

You can say you believe in the Doctrines of Grace and they'd say they did too, and quote Eph. 2:8-9. But if I tell them I'm a Calvinist, they'll know my stance. It's not a desire of being in a club, just letting people know my beliefs...

 

John Calvin was a Protestant Reformer who seceded from the Catholic church and started Presbyterianism. Is that who you are? Do you sprinkle babies? Are you sacrimental? He also denied the movement known as the Baptists....and I can go on. Do some research so before you start defining yourself.

 

I guess I'm a Calveller....a hybrid between Hardshell Baptist and Calvinist. :tongue3:

I am in line with the DoG, and in much agreement with the Hardshells. But I just can't go along with that time salvation doctrine...

 

Nevertheless, Jesus made it very clear that there is one sin that would not be covered by His sacrifice. So we can stop declaring all men would be saved just by the cross even without having faith in Jesus Christ. And since the scriptures say that salvation is by faith, from cover to cover, it is not that difficult to understand that it is unbelief in God's Word (Jesus Christ) which is the sin not covered by the cross.

 

EWF, cool your jets. You know very well that the term Calvinist does not mean a person agrees with all points of John Calvin's personal doctrine. Spurgeon called himself a Calvinist and he disagreed with Calvin on many things. That is why I do not get my knickers in a twist over the term. You can still eschew the term and call yourself a Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich if you wish. But if someone on the board calls you a Calvinist do not make a big fuss over it. Look beyond the term and understand what they are really saying.

 

No....I do not categorize myself as such so I will continue to refuse that characterization. Whats more, I will use it as an opportunity to have them present what they contend a Calvinist is.

There are many in here who are called Arminian, but they object to that description (and do it loudly) so why should I not do likewise?
