Can a person be saved who doesn't believe in eternal security? I don't believe they can.
1Jo 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jo 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Someone who does not believe that God has given us eternal life is calling God a liar and is not a believer according to these two verses.
Also, if a person can lose there salvation, this is like works salvation since they must live a certain way to maintain their salvation.
My belief on this subject is explained further in this article I wrote recently:

Yes.
Otherwise all Christians except 5-point TULIP Calvinists are damned and 5-pointers would be the only inhabitants of Heaven, in which case I'm not sure I'd want to go there. -
Awww Matt....I am a 5-pointer and you know you want to have a cuppa with me in heaven....*smile*
Cheers,

I agree with Matt. I'm wondering about your whole website and 1611 KJVOism. You seem to be rather confused and possibly involved in cultish beliefs. Might I recommend a therapist?

Steven,
Welcome to the board. I would say that people can have some bad theological stances and still believe in Jesus Christ as Savior.
It's sad that some people get led astray with a misunderstanding of some Scripture, but that has to do with discipleship after the point of salvation.
People need to be taught correct Biblical teaching after that initial point to show them that what has been done in their life is not of them and was not based on any form of their work so there is nothing that can be done on their part to undo what the Holy Spirit has done. -
I believe in eternal security. I don't want to hijack the thread about this, but preaching against women working doesn't impress me at all.

I agree with J. Jump on this one. I think you can old to the doctrinal error of OSAS and still be saved.
Just because an OSAS person denies the teaching of Christ in Matt 18 on "forgiveness revoked" does not mean that they lose their salvation just for clinging to the tradition of OSAS over scripture.
I have to go with the broader view on this one.
In Christ,

Bob,
If the doctrine of OSAS is wrong, then our Lord and Savior was lying when He said, 'He that believeth hath everlasting life'.
I am sorry, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Everlasting life means it does not end. It is given as a gift for believing on Christ, and the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance. We cannot lose it. -
Saved but miserable, if he really believes it.

Pastor Anderson, first of all, welcome to BB.
Jesus saves. This is the sum of salvation. Believe -- ...that whomever believes on Him....
When each of us is saved, we are initially in all sorts of philosophical and cultural positions. The Holy Spirit will transform each of us, slowly but surely, into the likeness of Christ. Those that are 'liberal' will find themselves being moved to a more conservative position. Those who are 'conservative', to a more liberal position.
What I am trying to say is that it really does not matter where you are when your life is first given over to Christ. You are in a wrong position. It is the Holy Spirit's job to get those changes made which will eventually turn you into the person our Lord created you to be in the first place.
So it doesn't matter if a person first understands that salvation is eternally safe when he or she is first saved. Gradually the Holy Spirit will show that person the truth of it. But the person was saved the whole time.
I, for one, am extraordinarily grateful that salvation does not depend on one's intellectual understanding of doctrinal points. It depends on Jesus, and on Him alone. That He is God and that He did everything for our salvation and that we can belong to Him by acknowledging our sinfulness, deeply repenting, and asking Him to take over -- that's enough.
All the rest comes later. -

The Galatians bought the heresy that in order to be saved, you had to obey Mosaic law, or lose salvation. Paul still addresses them as "bretheren".

Just to clear something up I believe in the eternal security of the believer . . . an above post (to me) made it sound like I didn't
Once a person has believed in Jesus Christ as Savior they are made alive spiritually by an act of the Holy Spirit and that can never be undone.
A person is not dead then alive and then dead and then alive and then . . . well you get the point. It's a one-time event. -
I suggest that you buy a Bible and read it.
-
We are saved by the grace of God and we are kept by the grace of God. Aside from God we are left to a depraved will and it proffers nothing except the pains of this old world.
This Anderson chap is KJVO and fundamentalist Independent Baptist. I suppose that says it all.
Cheers,

Ahhh, but Jim,
I also am IFB. And the only Bible I read is the KJV. Ya must not get us fundies mixed up with the hyper-fundies. -
Just couldn't resist an opportunity to take another swipe at IFBers or those who sincerely believe in KJVO could you Jim? Do these characteristics, of themselves, mean these folks are always in error, and their statements somehow less valid than those who are more liberal in their beliefs?
