Yeah I agree...Arminianism (modified or not) is the doctrines of men in contrast to Calvinism's doctrines of grace and God.

Calvin might have appreciated the compliment but it's not actually his doctrines of grace but it's the Bible's...he rediscovered something that might have been lost in the Catholic tainted Christianity of his day (kind of like in 2 Kings 22).

Did you discover this yourself? Without the bias of man?

You know I actually did discover it myself reading through a plan of the whole Bible. That's probably why I don't hold to "5-points" of Calvinism...I wasn't introduced to it by five points. For one, coming to the scriptures with 5 points are a bit presuppositional and two, Reformed theology is too complex to chop it down to just 5 points. But it was hard to ignore the obvious doctrines of grace...to me the most prevalent being man's total inability to come to saving faith.

    and
So please, share your testimony about being saved by our Lord Jesus Christ, if you don't mind.

I attended a revival at 13 one summer with a very powerful evangelist. I remember him speaking about our sins and the penalty for it being hell. He then talked about how nothing we do could help us escape that penalty but that it is entirely the work of Christ's death on the cross that saves us. He then said that faith would be the sign of our salvation. I remember thinking about how I haven't believed up to tonight but that now I believe everything he said. So I approached the front of the church, fell on my knees, and begin repenting for my sins. I especially was repenting for my unbelief all the other times I heard the same message but did not believe. It was just something different about that night.

    Thanks for sharing!

Have you attended a Reformed Church, for the most part, since that day?

No not really. I did while I was in seminary but that's it. I'm Baptist and most Baptist churches aren't Reformed.

Rest assured brother JonShaff your theology falls into one camp or another for the most part. :)

AMEN!... Brother... I totally agree with you and until I came to the understanding of my Total Depravity, then and only then could I grasp the beauty of the doctrines of the Sovereign Grace of All Mighty God... That Jesus Christ is truly my all in all and that left me speechless... We understand each other... Brother Glen

lol...I absolutely agree, I just see that the Bible Teaches in the Middle of those Camps. Calvinism is too far to the one side of the road, Arminian is too far to the other. The Bible is directly in the middle ;)

I'm glad you agree. Now, I believe the Arminian doctrine to have lended itself to WoF teachings (due to faith being innate ability, which has developed into a power source and the likes of Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen). Also this has brought us the neo-Pelagianism, easy-believism, Free Grace Theology, decisional salvation and much more error. I believe the errant foundation has led to errors on the 'other floors' of this system. :)

And I believe Calvinism has produced dead churches. (I do agree with most of your assessment)
