......Rosemary Jenks of the immigration reduction group Numbers USA says although McCain promised conservatives he will secure the borders, his stance on immigration is still a problem. "Well, it's that word 'first' that he keeps using -- you know, 'we need to secure the border first.' That's a clear sign to me that he doesn't get it," argues Jenks, "[and] that he has basically decided that he will be patronizing enough that he will go along with the American people in their desire to secure the border so that he can get his amnesty [bill] through."....

No. He cannot unite conservatives. He would have to be one first.
Can McCain bring conservatives together?

Well, he's brought them together against his campaign, so I vote, "yes."
Fox News mistakenly labels McCain a Democrat -

I do not have a candidate to support. They are all trying to mix liberal socialist policies with conservatism. And that most certainly includes the President. Ron Paul or Alan Keys might be an option if they were not treated like step children and shut out of many of the debates. But I do not think either has much of a chance.

Maybe you should run for office yourself. -

Oh I see. You weren't trying to engage me in a conversation. You were just setting me up for a personal attack. God Bless -
The martyr role does not work very well for you, you should take it back and see if you can get a full price refund. -
To answer the OP, yes he can unite the conservatives... but the enthusiasm will not be there.. they will unite to defeat either Hillary or Obama.
And if the enthusiasm is not there, the democrats will beat us in Nov.
look at Super Tuesday... the democrats outnumbered the republicans 2 to 1 because they are excited...
McCain cannot produce that much excitement.
They will get behind McCain, not because he is a uniter, but because he is the closest one in values to traditional conservatives.
A common enemy will cause us to unite behind McCain... -

Are you saying you did not level a personal attack? Even in this post I quoted you continue your attack. -

Are you suggesting this is not a personal attack? -

Really? That statement was made against me personally to belittle my position. That is a personal attack. And it wasn't approrpiate. -
You continue to throw around statements like that with nothing to support them with, and it matters not what name you post from on here, that remains the same. Again, the martyr suit does not fit too well.
I am done with this converation. Carry on as you wish... -

Some people respond to personal attacks with more personal attacks. I am not going to take part in that. But I will point them out. As far as being a "martyr" well this nonsense goes on all the time on this board with people other than me. It has become almost an accepted behavior here. And the use of the word "martyr" appears to be an intentional distraction from the poor behavior.

This reminds me of the time Ps104_33 chose a candidate when JamieinNH asked him who he was supporting. :D
-
I don't really want to take part in this argument, but I do have one question...
Where is it written that we have to support a candidate or candidates we don't care for in order to please those at BB that do support someone? -
The answer to both questions: it isn't written anywhere. Message boards, like life, is more fun when you make up the rules as you go. ;) -
You helped make my point. Why is it necessary to criticize anyone here for who they support? Why not be critical of the candidate they support instead? Oh...I get it.!!! Since you can't criticize a candidate someone doesn't support, it's necessary to criticize the bb member personally. Hey! I may learn how to play this game yet.
Just to make it clear.
I don't support anyone either. But I will when the time is right, albeit with nose tightly held. Is that better than switching support 2 or 3 times during the primary process? It is to me.
It seems the Republican nominee has been selected without me having any say in the matter , so I don't owe him any loyalty at all during the primaries.
As for the democrats, none of the candidates they put forward would ever be acceptable under any circumstances.
