I remember in the campaign that Obama said McCain should prove/clear up his eligibility status so that the American people would know he was constitutionally eligible to be President. This was because McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone. But I can't find it. I watched/heard him say it. Does anyone know where a clip or quote of that is? Thanks

I never saw the incident in question, but the issue did arise.

Right, but Obama publicly asked for McCain to take the steps to prove his eligibility. I'm looking for Obama asking for McCain to do it. I know it happened because I saw/heard it on TV but I can't find it.
So if folks can help me find it that would be awesome! -

Now, however, the Senate has moved to put that minor controversy to rest. Yesterday, the Senate passed a resolution declaring that McCain is a natural-born citizen. The resolution was passed by unanimous consent. More surprising than the result, however, was the fact that the bill was written and submitted by Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), and co sponsored by both Democratic presidential candidates, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), and Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). Politics makes strange bedfellows. -
Right, this was before the Senate did that. It was right after McCain was named the Republican nominee. I know he said it. It wasn't hateful, but he said it. I remember seeing it and reading reports about it.
He congratulated McCain on winning the nomination, then said something to the effect that McCain should simply do what he needs to do to put this matter to rest and ensure the American people have an eligible candidate.
Trust me, he said it. I wish I would have bookmarked it but McCain took care of the matter so quickly that I never thought it would matter to me again. But now it does because it shows some major hypocrisy with Obama asking for McCain to do it but refusing to himself. -
