My wife and I are Care Group leaders in our Sunday School class. We are new at it and have 4 couples assigned to us. I could really use some ideas for a "social" we are scheduled to have on November 8th. We all have children, but would like to get to know each other better without having to devote all of the time to watching them. Please help!

One of the greatest things I have done that is very cheap is to have an ice cream social or baked potato social. Have the, pitch in one or two dollars. That will buy ice cream, bananas, abnd toppings. It will also buy some huge potatos and toppings, etc.

We had our Care Group (Sunday School Class) Social at a large nature preserve in early afternoon before it got too cool. The parents played wiffel ball, horse shoes, etc. with the kids. All but a few had kids near the same age and it worked out great. Later, the kids played tag, etc. as the parents sat around and talked.
It's very hard to get together without the kids. You might find a skating rink for the afternoon. Is the idea more of a social gathering or a chat type event?

I discussed this in the Coffee House. Please check my post. You might get older children (teens) to watch the children at the same location as your social.
