Good reason for leaving a church, the doctrine is not sound, the pastor is not living right, the pastor is mismagaging or having an affair.

I left a church about six years ago. There were several reasons that had gone on for quite a while. Changing churches is a major decission and I didn't rush into it. What I usually tell people is that the chruch ministry was headed in a different direction than the way I felt God was leading me. (This is one of the reasons.)

I know of a few REAL reasons to change churches:
1. God wants me to chnage churches, for whatever reason. This can be going to a mission, as well as numerous other God-initiated reasons.
2. Moving to another city or state or country. In 20 years in the US Air Force, I went to bases in four states and one foreign country. I moved my membership to a "local church" because I believe God wanted me to do so, in order that I could serve in those local congregations.
3. Heresy in the teachings of the church, without any hope of correction.

I didn't answer, didn't find an answer to fit what I believe.
As W.A. Criswell said all churches are not for everybody. What he was saying some folks grow better in the Lord in different types of churches. Like myself, I like sound preaching/teaching and a hymn or two, others might learn better in another style church. I went to a church a few weeks ago in NC that the music was so loud my head didn't stop hurting until I was back in Florida, but I'm sure folks their must have been getting something out of it.
I think we all need a church where we will grow and can use us in the ministry doing some type of work, from teaching and getting the Gospel out to cutting the grass. With that said it does not mean the other churches in town are all bad, some might be. -
For a year we fought leaving the church as more and more opportunities to serve disappeared. Then some other things began to happen in the church that we didn't believe were right. So what finally happened? There was of course a straw that broke the camels back. When that happened we left. It was not fun, but we had been dealing with a bad and getting worse situation for a year. God had made us miserable because we weren't listening to Him when He told us to leave.
When we left this church we were simply pew sitters. All opportunities for service had been take away, and not new doors were opening.
It didn't take long to find a new church. It took only a short time time for us to become involved the the Youth ministry. Now 2 1/2 years later Jeanne and I are the Youth Leaders, we are both Sunday School teachers, and I am a Deacon and teaching the Wed. night Bible Study.
Yes there is a place for you to serve, but it might just be in a different church. Please don't make the same mistake I did and ignore what God wants you to do.

Through a couple building programs, rapid growth, pastor change, church dissention with loss of membership, damaged building problems, pastor resignation,
I'm not exactly a church jumper... having spent 22 years at my last church.
I finally left when my youngest daughter connected with the youth group at a sister-church nearby.
I'd do just about anything to encourage my youngest one to grow in the Lord.

I would say doctrine and discipleship would be the two biggies. The rest can be personal opinions only and not true.
I left my childhood church due to legalism and lack of discipleship. -
-
Why would two people vote for "no good reason"?
So, if I moved to a different part of the country, I still have to go to my old church on Sundays? With gas prices the way they are? Are you serious? -
-
Not teaching the Word of God, and the lack of obedience to what that Word says......being obedient to Gods word is not "legalism" like so many folks like to scream, it is what is required to walk with Him. So many buildings called "Churches" forget this.....

unbiblical doctrine, The people act more like the world than Christians, female preacher, Reads another version of the Bible other than the KJV.
A long sermon isn't a reason to change churches. It's wrong. -

Well, my reason aren't in there either... moving and marriage.
I married and I went to church with him.
I moved (and I am going to move) over long distances. -
