Should we (Christians, followers of Jesus) really be cheering the death of Osama Bin Laden?

This is from my blog today. What do you think?

Perhaps what people are happy about is not death, but the perception that justice has been fulfilled.
While I think the story is a load of manure, I still believe Christians celebrating most likely are pleased with the perception of justice, a possible end to such acts (which is probably untrue, we should be bracing right now, not relaxing) and a bit more closure to what happened in NYC...not celebrating the death of a person per se, but a perceived end of a terrible occurrence. -

But the rest of your post was good, too. -
*IF* he's really dead (buried at sea? REALLY?):
As an American I applaud the men who brought him to final justice. (and I can think of a few better ways to have "disposed" of his body) I'm not ignorant enough to think there won't be repercussions from the act however.
As a Christian, I stand in awe and fear as God extracts His wrath on bin Laden's soul. There but for the grace of God go I. (or rather my husband and sons) What a terrible thing to not have Christ to stand in his stead. :tear: -
it is most interesting to read perspective on this man's death. I see Christians reflecting, not celebrating, on the evil that Bin Laden did in his life, showing no remorse, and taunting those who sought to stop him.
And I see patriotic Americans relieved at the fact that our President actually supported hunting this madman down....and serving justice to him.
It is a good day. I am not celebrating, I am just relieved. One crazy man has been stopped from doing more harm. -
I read about half the article and came to this conclusion. Some pastors evidently have way too much time on their hands. But, look who's talking. I'm here on the Baptist Board and I actually wasted time reading this guys blog.
I do cheer that the military mission was successful. I do cheer that this mad man is removed from the world. I do not cheer that he was an unbeliever and did not go to 70 virgins (I could debate whether that would really be a good thing) but to face judgment. I do not cheer that he will be cast into a sinners' hell not because he orchestrated the murder of thousands of people but because he rejected Jesus. -

my reaction to the news that "the curse" is dead was joy, still is, and will always be.
I went to bed with a smile on my face for the first time in a long time.
My feeling was like a husband who just had a satisfying, intimate moment with his wife.
Sorry to say that, sorry to shock your sensibilities, but that's it.
I'm happy he is dead.
I'm sure most of the relatives of the 3000 people who perished in 2001 are, too.
And I'm sure that the big majority of the families who lost loved ones in the battlefield because of this ONE man's hatred for this country are happy.
I will not pretend to be worried that I may sound unChristian and be holier-than-anybody else and throw cold water on those who feel relief, joy, peace, at the passing of this curse.
I will not prick the conscience of a child of God anywhere and act as the Holy Spirit and make him/her think she may not, after all, be a child of God.
I did not vote for Obama, will not vote for Obama, and will NEVER vote for Obama because he is a democrat, if for no other reason, but I will most certainly give him the benefit of a doubt that he spoke the truth when he went before national television to announce that this horrible man is, at last, dead.
His death will not mean that the terrorists will hang their heads and go home.
I was an ideologue once, and know that ideologies do not die with their leaders.
But, he is the most visible feature of this terrorism, and for that, I have contempt for him, and no sympathy at all for those who mourn him, nor for those who question the motives of those who rejoice at his death. -
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. Ps 58:10
When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting. Prov 11:10 -

I adopted this motto from the Romans when I was in the Marines...... " No friend ever served this country, and no enemy ever wronged ever wronged her, whom has not been repaid in full."

As I posted on another thread:
Proverbs 24:17-18
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;
Or the LORD will see it and be displeased,
And turn His anger away from him. -

"*IF* he's really dead (buried at sea? REALLY?):"
I think this was the best thing to do. We couldn't bury him there (would probably be used as shrine), also burying him in US not a good idea. -

I'm wondering why we are not seeing cheering throngs in the streets in the Middle East.
Shouldn't "freedom loving" and "peace loving" Muslims be glad that this dirt bag has found justice?
There was quite a show when the World Trade Center went down.
But we were told that "true Muslims" were against it.
Where is the rejoicing in the streets now? -
Pilgrimpastor- Shed a tear for bin Laden? Absolutely not. -
As I posted in another thread . . .
Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I'm going to celebrate Bin Laden's fake death in the fake war on terror with a fake beer while gazing at Bin Laden's fake death photo the MSM tried (and failed) to pass off on us tonight.
Seems like the only appropriate thing to do. -

On more than one occasion, David asked God to deal with his enemies.
I doubt if David was said when God answered his prayer. -
Kidney disease, lung disease, gunshots, whatever.
Note that prior to this, his beliefs (and burials) have followed the Wahhabism tradition of a simple grave.
Yet America buried him at sea within 24 hours to honor his faith? A man they sought for ten years and knew the world would be watching for evidence? Without even taking fingerprints?
A man hiding so well that CNN managed to get an interview tape, yet we're to believe CNN could get this information while USA intelligence remained clueless?

Found in a place that is by no means top secret?

No, I'm not convinced the man is dead this time anymore than I was the first couple. The oddness of the whole thing is perplexing, fishy, and just plain weird.
