At our son's school, kids can bring their lunches if they want. However, they are required to purchase lunch - actually purchase the meal plan for the year (since it is a private school, they can do what they want.)

The issues of obesity, poor diet and health is the delivery vehicle of the power grab of the collectivists.
Once we allow Big Brother to dictate what our kids eat in school, it won't be long until they move the all-seeing eye into our home kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc... as well.
Solution: Vote the School Board out of office. Fire them.

Although, having lived in Chicagoland, I love it, and Milwaukee is a fantastic city, too.
And there is lots of effective ministry being done there, too. -

I was never so glad in my life as the day I was finally able to leave Chicago. The place was an absolute dump in the late '70s.

Many of the suburbs are wonderful places to live.
And where there is a dump, there is ministry to be done. -
A community organizer I know failed miserably to improve this sick city.
Indications are he made it worse.
