Christian Dean at Rider University Resigns in Protest of Campus Chick-Fil-A Ban
The decision [to ban] was primarily made based on Chick-fil-A’s Christian values, which have been a target of progressive criticism over the past decade.

“[Chick-fil-A’s] corporate values have not sufficiently progressed enough to align with those of Rider,” the university wrote in a statement at the time.
Cynthia Newman, the dean of Rider University’s College of Business, announced that she would be resigning from her post because of the administration’s decision to keep Chick-fil-A off campus. In a statement, Newman announced that the decision conflicted with her Christian beliefs.

“As some of you already know, I am a committed follower of Jesus Christ,” Newman wrote in her statement. “As such, I endeavor every day to do exactly what Chick-fil-A puts forward as its overarching corporate value: to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to me and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with me.”

I think Chick Fillet is a virtue signaler. They're telling everyone how they're glorifying God and standing for this and that.
Jesus said don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.

I'm surprised she accepted the new position at Rider when the ban on Chick-fil-A remains in place for the same reasons she resigned in the first place.

It would have been better had some Christian university offered her a deanship or similar assistant to provost instead.

University deans usually teach also. Their functions vary but it is hard to be a leader when the administration is in opposition to your fundamental values.

I’d guess that she resigned her position as university dean without resigning the role as an educator.
The anouncement by the university was a PR related gambit to minimize the damage.

I’ll probably hear more about this tomorrow in our service.

Nothing mentioned about it in the service this morning.
Cindy and her husband were away.

I'm thinking she should have stayed - to be a light in the University.....

She’s there but as a dean she would need to walk-the-walk the university makes for her. Sort of like a cheer leader for the university.
She couldn’t do that and resigned the position.

That's what I read - no change in her teaching role.

I don't see how voluntarily giving up at least 1/7 of one's earning potential while training staff to be polite and cheerful to all can be labeled "virtue signaling", especially since Chick-Fil-A has been doing it since before that term came into use.
