Leading activist group points to Dobson, Robertson, others

James Dobson
A leading homosexual activist group is blaming a deranged teenager's violent rampage through a "gay" bar in Massachusetts on "hatred and loathing" fueled by Christian groups and leaders such as James Dobson.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's Executive Director Matt Foreman noted the Feb. 2 attack by 18-year-old Jacob Robida in a press release that day. Robida – who sports a swastika tattoo and had Neo-Nazi and white supremecist materials in his home – was charged with attempted murder for a hatchet and gun attack that left three men wounded in New Bedford, Mass.
"The hatred and loathing fueling this morning's vicious attack on gay men in New Bedford is not innate, it is learned," Foreman contended. "And who is teaching it? Leaders of the so-called Christian right, that's who. Individuals like James Dobson of Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins, the Rev. Pat Robertson and their ilk are obsessed with homosexuality."
Foreman asserted these leaders "use their vast resources, media networks and affiliated pulpits to blame lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people for all the ills of society."
"They disguise their hatred as 'deeply held religious beliefs,'" he claimed.
If we could strengthen our libel and slander laws, accusations like this would become harder to make. Pure propaganda from some of the same people who cheer when honest efforts to fight terrorism are blocked by liberals and the courts. Which is the greater threat?
Christians blamed for 'gay'-bar rampage

And some of you say Christianity is not under attack. Well here is a good example.
-
If there are Muslims who blames the Jews for everything, and Christians who blame Muslims for everything, why does it not surprise us that there is a groups blaming Christians for everything?
That doesn't even begin to address cnservatives who blame the liberals for everything, liberals who blame conservatives for everything, Europeans who blame the US for everything, Americans who blames Mexicans for everything, Southerners who blams northerners for everything, and the list goes on and on and on.
It's called sinful nature, and we all have it. What separates Christians from teh rest of the world is how we handle it. We handle it by not crying wolf ourselves, and by demonstrating via love and righteousness (not by pointing the finger back at them) that those who point to us and cry wolf are in error. -
I didn't know that Christianity supported neo-Nazism. Maybe the accusers are afraid of going after the American Nazi Party or the KKK or other racist groups and figure it's safe to attack Christians who are supposed to be meek and submissive.
The truth is, if you belong to a racist group like the KKK, NAACP, American Nazi Party, the New Black Panthers, your're not a Christian. You may call yourself one, just like you'd call yourself an American, but that doesn't make you either Christian or a patriot. -
I think they're pointing the finger at the wrong group. Since the attacker had a Swastika tattoo and neo-Nazi and white suprmacist literature, the person to blame is none other than Adolf Hitler!
The Nazis are infamous for the hatred of Jews, but they also hated other groups, including homosexuals. Homosexual activity was a capital offense in the Third Reich. -

Hey! Watch it now...
-
Why dont they have a look at people that really do teach hate from churches like Fred Phelps and his cronies?
-
For someone ignorant of this (mainly myself!), who is Fred Phelps?
-
Fred Phelps is a pastor who has his own web site: Godhatesamerica.com. He also had a web site called Godhatescanada.com. He believes that the soldiers being killed overseas is God's punishment for America accepting homosexual activity. His group has been protesting at the funerals of fallen soldiers and using anti-gay slogans at the funerals. Indiana recently passed a law banning protestors at funerals because of him.
I saw his web site, Godhatesmaerica.com. It showed pictures of murder victim Matthew Shepard in flames, Pope John Paul II with horns on his head, and an article stating that Ronald Reagan went to hell. -
I just checked Godhatesamerica.com, and Fred Phelps's latest rant is that President Bush and Pope Benedict XVI will go to hell and and that Coretta Scott King went to hell. The miners who were killed in the mining accidents in Virginia went also to hell. He also rejoiced about Hurricane Katrina. I'm thankful that God isn't as hateful as Fred Phelps is.

Fred also calls himself a "Fundamentalist Baptist"

He'd be flat wrong. I had the privilege of meeting with, and speaking to, Mrs King several years ago. Not only did she give her own testimony about having received Christ as savior, she fervently encouraged others to do the same. That puts Phelps in the unrighteously ignorant column.

It's easier to blame it on Canada.
My personal favorite is to blame everything on the Walt Disney Corporation. -
