The thread states that they should arm themselves if they are Christians. That means that they ought to and that does not mean that they will necessarily do what they ought to do but they should.
Christians should be armed

Obviously, scripture is telling us our protection comes from God. God does not desire for His children to “arm” themselves as the rest of the world does, but to use the word of God as the only weapon we need. -

What you are advocating is directly the opposite, imo, of what Jesus taught us.
The passages you quoted from Psalms were directed to King David. God gave King David insight into battle strategy as King to protect the Kingdom. I don’t see that applying to Christians today.
In fact, we are commanded to live in peace, pray for enemies, take up the Word of God as our sword and so forth.

This passage deals with standing against the wiles of the devil. It does not deal with self-defense in the physical realm.
We are encircled by enemies and we have the right of self-defense. Russia is on the march with new technologies in atomic weapons and rockets that the USA does not have. Our weapons are half a century old. China also is on the march and we see what they have done to Tibet and others and what they are trying to do to Hong Kong. The word of the Chinese is worthless. They are bent on world domination just as are the 22 Arab nations and other Islamic states who are commanded to execute all non-Muslims in the Quran.
Jesus said to sell your cloak and buy a sword, meaning a dagger, not a Bible.
Here is a case from Florida where a man in self-defense saved the lives of himself, his wife, and his 11 year old son when a man attacked him with an AK-47 in the middle of the night in Miami while they were asleep in their van. He emptied a Glock in the criminal's chest in self-defense. If the heathen know what Jesus asks, why can't the Christian understand?

I'm generally armed, (concealed) as I live right across the river from, work in, & often do business in Huntington, WV, "the heroin capital of the USA", thanx to a liberal mayor & council.
I carry a .45 autoloader, loaded with lethal "Home Defense" rounds, However, as a former cop, I'm well-schooled in both how and when to use it. I believe anyone who carries should be schooled in both those "disciplines", as an untrained scared person with a gun is as dangerous as a criminal. -
Most of what you posted concerning the intentions of foreign governments does not apply to individual Christians, unless you are advising Christians in those countries to take up arms in bloody revolution. That idea is clearly rejected by scripture.
The idea of self-defense and protecting your family is common sense. It does not mean all Christians should be armed.
We will disagree on this

The issue of Christians being armed isn't about using weapons to facilitate spreading the gospel. It's simply about making society safer. People against an armed citizenry are necessarily for criminal predation upon the innocent. -

it was a mean world back then, too. "Highwaymen" prowled the trails travelers used thruout the Roman empire, as well as in other 'civilized' lands. No woman dared travel alone, & most wealthy travelers had paid escorts.
However, I don;t believe anyone should carry a firearm if not trained how & when to use it. -

You have not answered my question. Please try to answer yes or no.
Do you believe Christians are suppose to use violence to protect the innocent (unborn babies) from murder (ab$rtion)
There have been some that have used your kind of logic to justify this kind of violence. I believe such thinking is contrary to Christian teachings. What do you think?

On your question about shooting abortionist doctors, that would be murder and murderers should be put to death. Genesis 9:6 (KJV) Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. I think that government should execute any doctor who performs an abortion.
Abortion is murder by government decree. The due process clause was suspended and the unborn child was declared non-human by the US Supreme Court. The political system in America is so corrupt and bloodthirsty that it is correct to say that the government is evil. We saw this before in the Dred Scott case when Scott was declared non-human and property. In fact, a corrupt judiciary is commonplace in the USA.
I don't think that the verse is calling for some Don Quixote to go charging at windmills in a battle that cannot be won. I think that it means when it is in your power to prevail, that you should act. In the case of the Florida Man, the odds were against him because he had the rifle pointing in his face but he was able to reach his pistol in the dark and save his girlfriend and son as well as himself. So he rid them out of the hand of the wicked and he did not forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death and were ready to be slain. The police cleared him and said that the attacker was a wanted criminal. Now the dead criminal will not hurt anyone else ever again nor will he ever again surprise anyone in the dead of the night. Nothing good happens after midnight. -
I do not watch videos that are clearly contrary to scripture.
