Clark Pinnock, Baptist theologian, passed away yesterday according to Dr. Yarnell at SWBTS.

Dr. Pinnock was a well known and respected theologian, but lost favor with many because of his views on open theism.

On a personal note, he was the first theologian I read who wrote against Reformed Theology. Obviously, I was unconvinced of his arguments even though I was not reformed at the time.

He was a good friend of Earle Ellis who went to his reward a few months ago.

Sorry to hear it. He has been a study from his days at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary till now.

He and I are in difference camps, but the study of his life is an eye opener.

As a person, I liked Clark very much. He started his life as a liberal theologian and ended in one of the worst pentecostal groups in Toronto.

Open deism was only one of his faults that revolted the evangelical and baptist community in Canada.

For a brief period, when he studied in England, he embraced evangelical Christianity, but soon after that we were left with more questions than answers.

I was not surprised when he embraced the pentecostal beliefs of the church he attended in Toronto where they believed even the dead could embrace the gospel.

Clark was honest in what he presented, but greatly deceived in his conclusions. Read his works with great caution if you value theological truth.

Jim, I knew you knew him from you talking about him on Rogers old board.

About 15 years ago or so I was challanged to do a study on his life, of where it lead him. Across all types of doctrine. I wish I would have had your words above, which I believe you are correct. You worded it much better here than I did in much more verbiage. Thanks!!!

Never knew Clark Pinnock or read much of his work. I remember his books causing much division among Christians I knew. May the Lord be merciful to him.
