Clinton launches withering attack on Bush on Iraq, Katrina, budget

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton sharply criticised George W. Bush for the Iraq War and the handling of Hurricane Katrina, and voiced alarm at the swelling US budget deficit.

Breaking with tradition under which US presidents mute criticisms of their successors, Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

Following protocol is not a strong suit of Bill Clinton - before, during, or after being president of these United States.

He want's to be head of the United Nations some day. His wife wants to be president. The Bush's have the military, corporations and a high tech police state working together now and Bill hangs out with George Sr. in Maine.

Can you imagine all that in the hands of the Clinton's for eight years.

I dunno some thing doesn't seem right when power passes back and forth between families, fathers and sons, husbands and wives.

So far it looks like the Clinton's dream of being royalty is getting close to fruition. And they are going to be armed to the teeth thanks to George Jr. I can hardly wait for the coronations.

I wonder if the HRH William Jefferson of Hope might bear any responsibility for Katrina. Did he by chance know about the levees when he was president and do nothing about it? What a gift Slick Willy has offered to Republicans opting to go the Michael Moore route and open up conversation about who is at fault here.

O for shame! Clinton has been spreading vicious truths about his successor.

So what? Which is worse, starting an unprovoked war or criticizing it? Bush didn't even end his vacation with a category 5 hurricane looming on the horizon. Bush didn't even end his vacation after the hurricane caused massive destruction. When he finally did end his vacation he made inane comments about the situation. But of course, criticising him for that is beyond the pale.

What is worse? Let me take a stab at this one here:

1. Selling Nuclear Secrets with to the Chinese?
2. Failing to capture OBL when he had a golden opportunity and could have prevented 9-11?
3. Knowing about the problems with levees down there, and doing nothing about it even though he could have prevented the tragedy in NO?

I am guessing he was too busy with a certain intern and bombing aspirin factories. What do you think?

Hi, Daisy!

Good post!

Bill Clinton is spreading the truth about his successor! Good heavens! What next? I guess the truth is painful for some, isn't it?

The truth?

Are you talking about the same guy who told Arkansas that if they re-elected him governor that he would not run for president and who couldn't figure out what the definition of "is" is?

Joseph:

Monica Lewinsky is history. Get over it! Perhaps if the Republicans hadn't been so obsessed with Monica for so long, we would not be in the mess we are in now.

You're right...Monica is history. However, since HRH William of Hope mentioned it, I would like to know about what he knew about OBL while he was president, and what he knew about the situation in NO while he was president. Thus, comes the relevance of Monica and that aspirin factory he bombed when he was president. Perhaps he was too busy to protect his own people from impending tragedy. HRH should always remember that once you point a finger of blame, there will be 5 more coming back at him.

I mean, if Clinton failed at some stuff, well he just failed. But if he failed while staining a 21 yo intern's dress while on tax payer time, while in our oval ofice. Well, how can you be a Clinton apologist after all that?

Joseph:

Clinton was a bad husband. Agreed!

Bush is a bad president, and it is his lies that have gotten nearly 2,000 of our young men and women killed in a war of Bush's own choosing. It is also Bush's decisions that have given us a record deficit. Bush's poor choices will cost this nation for generations to come. Deal with that truth!

He lied under oath. Lewinsky is an old topic. He's not our president anymore.

As far as criticism... often the truth is viewed as criticism by those that are offended by it. Nothing new there.

Pricilla,

You are dodging the substance of my statement...but you are not as good at it as HRH William of Hope used to be. Try actually dealing with the issues I raised. As for Monica, just as you say Bush was too busy on vacation to help the nation, I say he was too busy with an intern, parsing words, and blowing up aspirin factories to prevent the tragedies from happening. If Bush is a bad president, HRH William of Hope was a horrible president by your own standards. Learn the principle about stones and glass houses and you and HRH won't make this obvious political blunder again.

Joseph Botwinick

Joseph:

Clinton's presidency is history and will be judged accordingly.

You have failed repeatedly to deal with the issue of Bush's own errors and untruths, especially regarding the Iraq war. I have learned that this is a common tactic of Bush lovers. Ignorance is bliss, I guess!

How long can you pretend not to get it?

I'm afraid you are hopeless! You will defend Bush no matter how much damage he does....and he still has three more years to do so....

God help us....

Actually,

You are wrong about my failure to criticized Bush's failures in Iraq and Katrina. Check it out and you will see. I don't, however, see the same failures as you do and I don't throw stones in glass houses.

But, if you wish to do that...be my guest. It won't get you very far.

Clinton seems to float on butter if his wife gets the democratic nomination for President
we have to do everything we can to stop it I hope she doesn't even attempt it acting like a man doesn't mean you can run this country sorry ladies unless Mrs Dole runs I would never vote for MS Clinton or anything close hopefully only the San Francisco or NY people would vote for her anyway how low can we go before complete disaster
