Every church I've ever been to takes care of at least a few of those, visitations, help cooking, help with errands......
It seems the liberals want to corner the market on caring. Accusations of us wanting to see people die, it's pretty disheartening coming from professed Christians.
I will not have another conversation about giving with any self-pious spiritual pipsqueaks. If you want to think yer getting a better mansion than me, go right ahead.

For example, I have a Christian brother, who has had some financial difficulties over the years. I don't know all the details ect, but we have become friends. He is a mechanic by trade and does most of the repairs ect on my car. I do pay him a fair amount for the work. In addition, Mrs Salty and I enjoy having him over for dinner every now and then. In addition we have been generous with Christmas gifts. He works long hours as he is trying to keep current on his obligations. This is a man I have peace in helping as he is doing all he can to make do with the "handicap" he has.
by the way, would you have bought groceries for that church member in my previous post?

My answer would have been let every able-bodied citizen arm themselves for protection when they travel. Yea, I know what some of you are thinking, my goodness we can't have ordinary citizens being armed on an airplane because they might shoot a whole in the cabin, etc., etc. But, that's the problem today! We can't seem to trust citizens to be responsible and because we've been conditioned to that belief, we don't train ourselves to do so, can't work together when we need do, and have become dependent upon the government more than ever. Instead we think we can trust someone else - a government worker - we don't even know who's suppose to be so much better prepared, equipped, and at our beckon call. Right? Wrong! Now the only thing you can be sure of when you travel is that you will not be armed so you'd better hope you can out fight your attacker with your bare hands - no equalizer available - because, like most of them time, there won't be anyone there to help you. They're all busy checking to make sure you don't bring anything dangerous onto the airplane and looking that driver's license over with a microscope as if that means anything about a person's intentions. It's stupid and our grandparents would have loudly said so. We, on the other hand, accept it, argue for it, and brand anyone that opposes a radical. "Save us" was the call from the people and the politicians were more than happy to provide.
In like manner, I'd expect a "poverty czar" to impose all kinds of restrictions and implement all kinds of "solutions" for just about everything that's not a problem and not a solution. The solution to poverty is 99.99% in the hands of the person who's short some cash. It's easy to look around and see people who come here with nothing and, after some hard work and careful savings, end up much better off. The government's approach would be to first identify the "vicitims" of poverty and the make all the rest pay for it. "Save us" is the call from the people and the politicians will be more than happy to provide. -

This is way over the line, IMO, and should be retracted. -

This would be great. That way, there will be somebody to blame when the same old same old continues to careen down the track of failure. -
With the current state of the econemy this group will have to stand out on corners with cups to beg for donations. I don't think we'll have much left after the war in Iraq.

Yeah, Bush fixed it so God's promises to supply our every need are now null & void.
It's a lot easier to stand with a cup & beg for money. After all, if you go and try to make your life better, you may fail. Best to give up. eh ? And blame the politicians. That's what God would want. -
What the country really needs is not more government, but smarter governing. We have not been a good steward of what God has blessed us with, yet we think we deserve more.
