I know that consistency is the hobgobblin' of little minds, but really...
My wife and I are collecting Columbo episodes on DVD. Our budget does not include another season right now, so we are watching episodes for a second time.
Funny how you catch things you didn't catch on the first viewing. For instance:
The accomplis to the bad guy drives a green '67 Dodge Polara through a wrought-iron gate, breaking the gate off its hinges and shattering the windshield of the car. The accomplis drives away out of sight. A couple of days later, the bad guy calls his partner to find out where he is and to set up a transfer of money. The bad guy sneaks out in the middle of the night to meet his partner, but he double crosses him, hitting him from behind over the shoulder with a flashlight. This hit KILLS the accomplis! Wow, what a hit! The bad guy shoves his victim into the Dodge Polara. The camera pans back to reveal...............a pristine windshield where smashed windshield had been.
I think I didn't catch this inconsistency the first time through because there were no commercial breaks allowing me time to meditate on them. Now that I have discovered it, I feel that I am so sharp I should be Columbo!
