Hi Ed!

Sheila; It is a rocket firework. I can see it plainly. Could it be your computer? You might try refresing the page.

Going outside to grill hamburgers and eat watermelon now...yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The hot air balloons were cancelled, we had a major storm. If things keep up the fireworks are cancelled too.
So...we're at home trying to stay cool. The air after a storm in 90 degree weather is wretched! We were all laying here with bags of frozen peas, brussel sprouts, corn, etc.. on our faces. :D

Anytime Sue! We're a lovely bunch and the crowd was slim.

Katie, how awful! Did you get the water back on?

Sheila... sleep well dear one! God bless you with lovely dreams!

Blackbird is back from his sister's place in Baton Rouge--it rained on our Fourth--but luckyly my nephew had a big ole pack of "water proof" firecrackers---we could lite um in the rain!

Speakin' of firecrackers--I like to celebrate with um--but Blackbird remembers an experience he had as a young un--had some firecrackers---just old enough that daddy didn't need to supervise(Blackbird never needs much nor needed much when he was young)---anyway, the last thing daddy said was, "Don't lite um in your hand and throw um! Set um on the ground and then lite um!"

"Yes, Sir! Daddy!"

Well!!!!!!! You guessed it! Soon as Daddy went inside--ole Blackbird started litin' um in his hand--then throwin' um---tryin' to get um to "Pop" in the air---the concussion and report sounded neater when they went off in the air!

Well, blasted if I didn't let one of um go off in my hand! And to add insult to injury---my hand was "rared back" in the throwin' position----right beside Blackbird's right ear!!!

You talk about huuuuuuuuuuuurt!!!!!!!!! Then I tried to "hide" the injury---struttin' around like it didn't hurt---but it did!!! Then I went to school the next day and the teacher couldn't figure out why Blackbird couldn't hold a pencil in his right hand!!! The teacher knew that Blackbird never had trouble holdin' on to his pencil before!!! Then she wondered why Blackbird couldn't HEAR the question the first time but found she had to repeat it just for Blackbird---especially if she was on the left side of the room!!!!

You know, I still have that problem!! To this day, I still like to lite firecrackers and throw um--tryin' to get um to pop in mid air!!

Gina: Awww, that's too bad about the balloons. I hope the storm didn't cancel out the fireworks display.

Blackbird: I do not have a problem seeing you pull that little stunt! :D Do you still have problems with that ear?

We have a 10-year-old boy here that just got out of the hospital after spending two weeks there. Someone was selling illegal fireworks and three boys bought them. Two 12-year-olds and the 10-year-old.

The two older boys were playing around and put a firecracker in the younger boy's pants pocket. It blew up and gave him 1st degree burns that will leave him scarred for life. The older boys were each charged with a Class X Felony.

Good night all! Pleasant dreams. I will see you in the morning.

They did have fireworks! Yay! I thought it was thunder but it wasn't, so we ran outside and saw a few, then got in the car so we could see them for real. (drove up the road) I found a little spot with a perfect view and the kids were thrilled. :D It started sprinking but they just finished them quickly!
We came home and did sparklers.
The kids are especially happy because it was past their bedtime. LOL It doesn't get dark until around 9:30 here, and they started them about 15 minutes later. They just got to bed a few minutes ago, about 10:40 and I hear them in there talking about never forgetting it and how they're gonna put it in their diaries. Too cute!
Have a good night Sue! I took a nap earlier and am not sleepy now!

I have about as much use for fireworks as I have for guns......at least guns melt down into useful metal.

Saw and heard enough bang bang during the war!

Cheers,

Jim

Thankful

The fireworks were beautiful. We watched them from our backyard deck.

That's great, Gina, that your girls got to see the fireworks.

Hark!! Gina has given her best buddy on the board a brilliant idea----it has dawned upon Blackbird to go back to his lab and construct plans for a dignified peashooter---I'll let ya'll know how it turns out---it could be one of those "Its headed for an assembly line" deals!!

Thanks, Gina!! You are a good friend!!

Your Southern Baptist rpeachin', firecracker throwin', soon to be peashootin' buddy,

Good Morning everyone

I just wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading about your Independence Day and all your plans and happenings. I may be a few thousand miles away but I felt a part of it reading all your posts. I hope you all enjoyed your special day. Am I right in thinking that Thanksgiving is your next celebration? Will look forward to hearing all about that too.

Rob and I are away on the Church outing today to Weston-Super-Mare. I haven't been there in more than 30 years  and it is not that far away, as Jim will tell you
So I will try and post later when we get back. Rob and I plan on exploring as we are not beach people.

Have a lovely day and talk to you later,

Blessings

Sheila

Sheila--I think its Labor Day but I'm not sure. Labor Day is always the first Monday of September--or is it the first Monday after the first weekend of September--I don't know!

Now see there!!!????? That's twice that Blackbird has done slipped up and said either he wasn't sure or that he didn't know!!

One thing is for sure---Blackbird likes um--any holiday he can get-he'll take!!!! Though I see no reasoning why the post office should be able to get off on George Washington's birthday(which really ain't his birthday---they move it around to suit themselves at the post office)and I can't!
