Is the "hickory stick" the same as sayin' --- The Paddle???!!!

Pretty much! At least that's the way the song goes...

Good morning all!

Did we all remember to turn our clocks BACK an hour before we went to bed? I turned them all back except for Brent's and he just came flying out here thinking he was going to be late for SS.

Time for a shower and coffee (in that order).

Have a blessed Lord's Day!

I am SO loving this time change. I have a whole extra hour to while away this morning. :D I was up late on another board with the whole submission issue, and it was 2 AM before I got to bed.

Today at church we're finally doing the Pastor Appreciation thing - and letting people know the 'signs' for each pastor amongst the deaf. I had to find pictures of each pastor showing his "sign" - DH is easy - it's having to do with 'computer' but some are tougher like our sr. high youth pastor. His is 'drums' but he hasn't played drums in years and we lost all of our old pictures in a computer crash last year. That one ended up being doctored. :D

After church, Bob will be working quickly on a song with a friend - Kathy Troccoli's "Goodbye for Now" for the funeral of a friend who passed away on Friday, and then we're going to a restaurant with my ILs for lunch. Then I need to straighten up and bake a cake so that ILs and my dad can come here at 7 for cake and coffee for my son's 6th birthday, which is actually Tuesday.

So I wish you all a beautiful Sunday! FoG, I hope the new church is a blessing to you and your family!!

Song?? You mean the sound it makes as it whistles thru the air to impact on the back of your lap?

Followed by the famous words "this is going to hurt me[the spanker] more then it hurts you[the spankee]". LIE!!

Fortunately most of us[except for the Ladies] even at a early age have an abundance of padding to absorb the shock of the impact.

Blessed Sunday Everyone!

Yes, yes, I know I'm supposed to be at church or at the sewing machine, but I've had an inlaw influx.

LOL Sue, I got up at 7:45 this morning and thought we were going to be late for church since there is no way Cass can get dressed in an hour and fifteen minutes! Then I turned on the tv and realized it was only 6:45. Then Cass' friend who rides to church with us called to say she wasn't going and she thought it was already 8 and it was only 7. We were all messed up.

The phone call woke up T who promptly informed me that his folks planned on eating at 11 this morning. In his wildest dreams our preacher couldn't be finished preaching in only 45 minutes, so I decided I'd stay home and sew and be the good little DIL, not making a fuss about missing church. :saint: Then I call them a few minutes ago and they haven't started getting ready yet. This is soooo par for the course for them and it irritates me every single time!

I decided that since I was really good and didn't make any snide remarks about having to change my Sunday unnecessarily for them, I deserved a cup of coffee and a few minutes on the BB. Then I'll head back to the sewing machine.

FoG, it sure is good to hear from you this morning!

Church was great again this morning. We started a study of Romans 3 weeks ago and we just finished Romans 1:1 (yep, 3 weeks on 1 verse - well, technically two since one was a sermon on knowing truth) - I get the distinct impression that this is going to be another long series (Genesis was 4 years and Revelation was 3).

LOL! Your preacher and mine must have trained at the same school! Mine took 3-4 weeks preaching just on the first nine verses of Phillipians 1. And I believe he could've gotten a couple a more sermons out if he'd tried.

Got though lunch with the inlaws, got one Halloween costume done, got 4 little girls sitting on my bed playing Mario, about o start the second costume and go to choir practice. All this and I've been here twice! With the exception of Annsni, WHERE IS EVERYBODY? :D

On with the day.

I'm here, I'm just not all here.:tongue3:

We visited a new church today, and really had a blessing, we're thinking of visiting again next sunday.

I brought in Ham & Cheese Calzones, and Bacon Appetizer Crescents[both are low cal, low carb, low fat, and sugar free]for anybody who is hungry. The ranch dressing, and dijon mustard for dipping are in the refrigerator.

Tonight I taste tested the above dishes and forgot I'd just taken them from the oven.
WOW!! I had a hot foot, heartburn, and hot flashes all at the same time. Good Lord, you'd think I was barely smart enough to boil water to go and pull a trick like that. Now you see why I say I'll never match my cooking against a womans?

Now I have to clean up my mess in the kitchen, do the dishes, and put them away.

Well that didn't last long, the grandkids want snacks before they go to bed so I threw together Carrot-Ginger Cupcakes with Spiced Cream Cheese Frosting, and Fresh Banana Pudding Smoothies.

Now maybe I can clean up my mess.

Groom's Cake

Having its roots in Southern tradition, the groom's cake has been around for quite some time and is making a fashionable comeback on the wedding scene.

Traditionally, a groom's cake was sliced and boxed for the unmarried girls attending the wedding to take home and place under their pillows in hopes that the man they dreamed of would be their future husband.

Groom's Cake has come along way since then. Today the cake is meant to be a reflection of the groom's interests, whether it be one of his hobbies, favorite sport, alma mater, profession, etc..

It's a personal choice when to serve the cake - either at the rehearsal dinner, as an alternate dessert with the wedding cake, or as a late night dessert for the wedding party.

Just because primarily groom cakes tend to be a fruit cake or a chocolate cake shouldn't dictate what the bride and groom should have. Obviously being named "Groom's Cake" it should be a flavor and theme that the groom enjoys.

Good morning all!

It is going to be sunny and in the 70's today before turning back cold for the rest of the week. Hopefully, we can finish up with the leaves today.

I also have some errands to run this afternoon and school this morning. Doesn't leave much time for leaves does it???

Time for coffee,

Hi Sheila! :wavey:

Some people (guys) throw a "Groom Shower", while the Bridal Shower is going on, in lieu of the 'traditional' stag party (no alcohol allowed).

The gifts are usually tools, 'fix-it' books, etc.

Good Morning Everybody,

Today is going to be a busy day.

I brought in Sausage-Mushroom Tarts, South-of-the-Border Quiche, and Skillet Sausage with Potatoes and Rosemary for breakfast. Enjoy.

blackbird and Gib sure are good at hinting aren't they? I'll make a carrot cake with spiced cream cheese frosting, and a german chocolate cake for them to snack on. After all, a cake is nothing but a cupcake for guys, isn't it?

Seriously, I am going to be busy today. I have a doctor's appt. this morning, then I have to get in gear and get dinner ready. We're having three couples over for dinner tonight. I think we'll have Clam Cakes with Chili Sauce, Beef Braised in Red Wine, Squash with Sour Cream and Chopped Dill, Avocado and Watercress Salad with Black-Walnut Kernels, and Liederkranz Cheese. Appetizers will be Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat and Lobster dusted with Parmesan Cheese. Desert is Spicy Pumpkin Cake with Chocolate Chunks.

I've got to get going, after the doctors I have to get some groceries.

Good Morning Everyone!

Yep, gonna get busy here today too. I got one costume made yesterday and one half made. I have to finish that, take Chris to the doc about this migraine/stomach virus that keeps hanging on, take Jenna to the dentist to have her upper eye teeth removed and then all the normal daily stuff.

Keep cooking FoG, cause it's as close as my folks are gonna get for a couple of days! :D

T's grooms cake was strawberry. I thought every wedding had two cakes. I've been very sheltered.

Okay, off to start the day!

Good morning all! I'm here at church scanning about a hundred pictures for the funeral tonight and I have exactly 17 seconds between each scan to post. (I get in about a sentence at a time) LOL! I'll be doing this while Jo is in preschool here and I'll hopefully be done when she is. Robby is here doing school with me - the best we can for today with all that's going on. Later he'll have his yearly check-up (tomorrow is his 6th birthday), and then I'll do what I can at home for dinner and such. The funeral is tonight from 7 to whenever so that will take up the whole evening.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

The funeral homes in our area have a wide-screen TV and photos of the deceased are there in a photo show.

It is really nice. They start when the deceased was born and show 'important' events in their lives, their children, their parents, their marriage, graduation, etc.

Before I left the funeral business[5 years ago now] it was becoming popular for families to bring in pictures, tapes, and homemade pictorial tributes for visitations and funeral/memorial services. It helps them to have closure, while acknowledging their loved one's accomplishments, interests, and beliefs. Believe it or not funerals are for the living to reminisce, reflect, and rejoice in a life that was well lived, and well loved.

Tonight's dinner plans have changed. I found out that two of the couples coming tonight had once commented that they love Italian food, and don't get it very much. So I've changed tonights menu to: Easy Baked Manicotti, Quick Fettuccine Cacciatore, Spaghetti with Zesty Bolognese, Parmesan Garlic Bread, Tomato Basil Salad, Holy Cannoli Cake, and Tiramisu Cheesecake.

Hopefully everybody will enjoy it.:praying:

Got to get cooking now, or I'll run behind schedule.
