Yum!! I've got to start making jam here too. I make a "Christmas Jam" which is strawberry and cranberry. It's very sweet and very yummy. I think if I didn't make it, I'd have a mutiny on my hands since all my friends expect it each year. :D

Ha! As soon as someone finds out your bedroom is clean, they'll start planning one!

LOL - The family we do all the weddings for have one more daughter and she's not dating anyone right now. She got very scared when we talked of selling the house, but she has nothing to fear - we decided to stay. We have an acre of grass in the back yard and are near the water - a pretty place, I have to say - and perfect for 250 guests! We even have enough bathrooms to accomodate everyone! Well, if we ever get the 1/2 bath finished, then we'll have our full 3 1/2 bathrooms. :D

Good Morning Everybody,

Yes, it's still morning for another 27 minutes yet. It's almost lunchtime though, so I brought in Oven-Fried Chicken Fingers and Fries, Quick Chicken Teryaki, No-Cream Creamy Broccoli Soup, and Mini Pecan Pies. Enjoy.

Snow showers and windy...great day for a barbeque isn't it? As eeyore would say "oh well, shoulda known this was gonna happen anyway. :BangHead: No problem though, the grill is on our covered deck, and we'll just eat inside.

My doc and I had a good laugh about his comment about my cooking, etc and what housewives do. If you want to call me "Mr. Mom" go ahead, no biggie.

I just bristle when somebody says that my cooking is better their wife's/mother's, etc. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to eat a meal prepared by the Women on the BB, I'd probably be asking them for their recipes too.

Our friends will be here about 1pm, so I have to get the grill ready, the salad, pie, and cake are ready to go.

Hello, Followinghim!!!

Remember some time back I told you I was wanting to start a Honeybee hive???

Well---I finally got one built --- have been talking to some "Honeybee" hobbyist and I am almost ready to order my Queen and the colony that will come with her!!!

Any suggestions???

To-day is rainy and very bone-chilling. We still had a very good showing at the cenotaph to remember those who paid the supreme price in war. I am finding it harder each year to attend, but manage. It seems the least, those of us who remain can do, to remember those young lives lost on foreign shores. We will remember. We will remember.
========================

Now young Mr. Beekeeper, just remember not to make any sudden moves and the bees will cluster and not sting. Watch for the worker bees. They are on guard. It is their job to sting.

We have hives in behind the house and in spring axe handles are covered with bees seeking the moisture in the sawdust from the firewood. To chop any wood, one must gently slide on hand down the handle to remove the bees. In 34 years I have never been stung doing this. I don't know beans about raising them though.

Cheers,

Jim

I checked out HBO's "Band of Brothers" from the library yesterday --- bone chilling ---- even though the motion picture is reinactment

We honor all Veterans of foreign war --- The US, Brits, Canadians, Aussies, French resistance, Dutch resistance

The Great War and those trenches

World War II and Allied superiority

Korean War and that 38th Parallel

Vietnam War and those nasty, nasty 12 month "Tours"

Granada

Panama and Haiti

Persian Gulf

to our present position in Iraq and Afganistan

And Jim??? Those Honeybees???? I've read up on maintenance ---- mercy --- who'd think that a little insect would require such!!!!

Speaking of moving pictures, I remember the John Wayne moving picture that came out about Vietnam. It was very popular at first and then it ws banned..............The Green Berets.....I noticed it on the list to-day of war movies to be shown on the telly. I saw it when it first came out and it reminded me of every day spent in Korea. A very telling movie.

I listen to-day as they talked of the young lives wasted in war. Then i thought about it, and relaized it was always young lives, 18-24, who went to war. We had a few WWII veterans who served in Korea. It was nice to have these men to look up to then...they were in 30's and 40's.......imagine those "oldtimers" with experience!

Bees do require a lot of maintenance. I have new fruit trees growing in my garden and need to spray them. Realizing how much they depend on bees for cross-pollination, I knew I could not use the normal sprays, fatal to bees. I sprayed the trees with regular soap and water....it did the same job.

I know how hard the young lady who owns the hives works all summer long, and then in winter preparing for the next season..then she has marketing to do as well.....hard worker, she is.

Cheers,

Jim

Don't mean to cut in on all the "bee-usy" activity.....but some here might be intrested.
To the best knowledge of those I've talked to, BH has proably had a stroke. She has lost total use of her left hind leg....though she tries not to let it slow her down. She still wants to play & be a squirrel, but she has to rest often. I wouldn't even post this but I do know a couple of yuns have gotten used to me posting her antics.
She's my Friend....& I care as does Agee...who is having a harder time than me. She may carry on just fine but right now I have to say I'm kinda scared bout losing her. I know it sounds kinda crazy but she has helped me keep my thoughts together the past couple of years. Plus I've been able to use her here in town to reach out to others. Ought to see the reactions when I tell someone that BH is a gift from Christ to me!!

Oh, Preacher! I'm so sorry about BH!! I hope that she hangs on and adjusts to the inability to use her leg - or that even that part of her brain regenerates enough to recover some use of it. Poor little BH!!

Praying for BH, preacher. It is hard when one's pet is sick. I hope she's not suffering.

Good morning all,

We never did get any snow. Yeaaaaaaaa! We are going to get rain the next few days though and it's cold and windy.

Brent had outgrown the suit he wears to church and I sold it on ebay for $30.00 (S&H included) and bought him one on ebay for $21.00 (S&H included). It arrived this week and it is a beautiful suit! Brent will probably be up early because he can't wait to wear it!

I also bought him a new shirt, and tie to match, at our local thrift shop. He's sure gonna look 'spiffy' today.

Time for coffee,
§ue

Good day! Another coolish day with strong north winds. I think I would rather have snow. It absorbs the cold.

Cheers,

Jim

Hello Jim

No, don't really want snow here. Cold and wet here but not too bothered about that. I will probably spend the evening reading by the fire.

A little cooler here today, still waiting on winter. Was driving around earlier & saw where folks are already putting up their Christmas decorations. BUMS me out!
Got in touch with some folks on the squirrel board...one lady there is trying to find a vet close to my area that will be willing to look at BH. She lives in S.C. but is really trying to help. Pray this will give me a chance to witness to someone about our Lord!!
Agee worked 12 hrs. yesterday & doing the same today...& tomorrow. Plus BH bit the fire out of her last nite so she's working injured. Thats my wittle wife. Gotta try & do Husbandly Duties today & work on the Honey Do list!!

Poor BH! I hope help is quick in coming. :(

Good morning everyone!

Had a wonderful morning service this morning. I had to miss Wednesday services because I was sick, so it was very nice to be in church today. PTL, that the kids are well enough that I can attend services more regularly here lately!

Gotta make a Walmart run. I hate shopping on Sunday. I'd wait till tommorrow but I forgot the supplies Jenna needs to finish a project and she needs to finish today! Other than that I'm going to pick at odds and ends that need doing and try not to work to hard before it's time to head back to church for choir practice. :D

Ya'll have a good day!

Jolly good day to you, too, Jim!!!

But please explain to our readers --- the difference between your "coolish" day and a down right "cold" one!!!

In the deep south here --- a "coolish" day would be 60 and light winds -- a "cold" day would be 30 and gusty
