I think coolish in your lingo is about 20f....it was dwon to 3c here, but the strong north wind,,,enough to make my jacket a sail.....made it rather coolish.

Cheers,

Jim

Good morning all,

Anything below 50ºF is coolish to me. If it's below 32ºF, it's COLD!

We're in for some rain every day this week with highs in the low 50's and lows in the 30's.

I'm going to be baking so the rain won't bother me 'cause I'm staying inside! Supper is in the crock pot already and I have 'quiet' time until Brent gets up at 7:00. Then we'll have breakfast and school.

Time for coffee,

Good Morning Everybody,

Sue - I share your pain about the rain, but you know, it's better then shoveling snow. { I wish Gina would come back - my poetry would scare a Yak}.

I brought in Egg and Sausage Breakfast Strudel, Fruit-Filled Petal Rolls, and Breakfast Kabobs. Enjoy.

The Pastor's message yesterday was on Gluttony - What is True Thanksgiving? Knowing how he feels about my humble attempts at cooking I don't know whether to take his message as an edict on my cooking, or a gentle knudge to say "watch it Son, you're toeing the line".

Once I get my chores done, I've got to change the bedding from "summer" to "winter", and start putting up Thanksgiving decor.

This saturday is the Ohio State - Michigan game, so we'll have a houseful of fans to watch the game, and critique the calls of the officials.

Tonight is "backwards night" at the request of the grandkids. Everybody has to wear one piece of clothing backwards to dinner, and dinner is dessert, salad, entree, soup, and appetizer in that order.

I'm a little "backwards", does that count?

Good Morning Everyone!

"Backwards day" is a really cute idea, I'll have to remember that!

We had FROST this morning! I couldn't believe it. Had to drag myself outside and crank the cars so they could defrost before we could leave.

I can already tell it is going to be a Monday. Ya'll pray for Jenna this morning. I got a call early that informed me that one of her best friends parents are separating (absolutely pray for that family too). Jenna has been through this before with another good friend and the turmoil was such that she has been unable to see her much. Young children set such a store in their friends and she is afraid she will be losing another one. I sent her to school in tears, unable to understand why parents separate and probably wondering (again) if I might do that to her. In both these cases it was the mother that left. (I cannot imagine leaving my children) :(

To finish off this Monday, I have 22 felt vests to make and an entire house full of dust and cat hair. Cleaning first!

Yes, it is morning. Monday morning. For us here, it is municipal election day. I went to do my duty for 9, but they didn't open until 10.

It is overcast, but so far, no rain. No sun either, and still coolish, even thought the experts say it is mild. Here I think of Ezekiel, "Can these bones speak?" Well these bones of mine don't always agree with the weatherman.

I meet every morning with an older women who is fighting alzheimers. It makes one appreciate that God has spared us for the moment. She knows who I am, but three times in 20 minutes she will ask me how I am to-day. She forgets the simple things. It is, however, nice to see her smile and laugh and that is my job each morning. There is more to ministry than preaching the gospel.

Cheers, and enjoy your sanity all the time, even when you act insane,

I know what you mean Jim.

My Wife's Grandmother "Mamaw" suffered from Alzheimer's, and it was heartbreaking to see the spark of memories, and recognition flicker, then dim.

I came across the blessing I now use in my signature, and thought the Ladies might enjoy it.

Women.

without falling into their hands.

AMEN! Preach it, Jim!

Rob: Some of my grandkids call me "MawMaw", some "Grandma", some "Gram", some "Granny", and one of the older ones has started calling me "Grandmother". I answer to all of them - even if it's not my Grandkids that are calling. LOL

I'm on my way to bed. I seem to have caught a case of intestinal flu. I stayed with chicken noodle soup and warm tea today. That is always fun...NOT.

I'm surprised everyone is not sick with these temperatures going up and down so drastically and rapidly.

Pleasant dreams all!

Yes'um yur right. I still can't get rid of this cold & it's proably got to do with my job, & these back & forth temps.
BH was trying to use that leg last nite, at least shes moving it some! I had some folks fron the squirrel board trying to help find a vet or someone that wouldn't turn me in for having her. Found a rehabber up in Winston that said if she needs a vet He would take her & it wouldn't cost me anything!
But now I'm gonna wait & see if she keeps improving, if not I'll get back in touch with him.
Thanks for the Prayers! I know thats what helped most! Gotta go to work..Have A Blessed Day!

LOL Sue, we have two Papas at our house and my kids call their friends grandparents by whatever name their friends use. It can get confusing wondering just which Nanny or Papa they are talking about!

It was warmer this morning. No frost!

Today is back to holiday cleaning. I cleaned T's library yesterday. :D I don't think he realizes it yet. Today is the dining room/project room. (you mean we're supposed to be able to eat at this table? <snicker>) I already moved one project out of there, which was a big start. Now I have to sort through the game and dvd collection and put things back in cases (it's too much to ask that the kids keep the discs in the cases) and find places for all of them. I think we are going to have to expand to a shelf in the library.

I'm trying to get to the point that I can clean carpets by Friday. If I get as much done today as I did yesterday, I might get to the carpets Thursday. Can't clean them till I get 22 red felt vest made and delivered.

It's migraine city here again. There is a big system coming in tonight and tomorrow. They are going to try heading to school in a couple of house though. Sometimes moving around and getting busy helps to shake the migraine (other times it makes it worse, it's a toss up). We're hoping today will be one of the good days, because tonight we are supposed to get our new ranks in karate. But if they are too sick to go to school......

Anyhow, I gotta go get started or things will never get done!

Ya'll have a good day!

Morning all! Today will be a somewhat quiet day. I DO have to call the school and get a hold of Nicole's social studies teacher and explain to her that Nicole can NOT be in the classroom on Friday when they do their 'meditation' - she's apparently very sensitive to the Spirit and when they watched a video on rituals (I think they were Hindu), she just started crying because she felt so sick in her heart. Bleck. I'm also going to call the ACLJ to see if they can write a note to the school.

We have to get homeschooling done and then I go to the doctors at 2:30 to hopefully be cleared to have a mamogram only once a year. I had bad mastitis (breast infection) when Joanna (almost 4) was a newborn and it actually damaged some ducts and lymph nodes so I've had an ultrasound every 3 months since then and when she weaned 2 years ago, I started on mamograms every 4 months. This is the first time the radiologist didn't call for additional sonograms and the lump that has been there the whole time is gone - so he said if all comes out clear this mamogram (it did) and this visit today, I can be like a normal person and just get one every year. Yeah!!

Then it's home and I'll pick up the girls when they're done with Bible club at 4. Dinner will be a little early because DH has college group tonight at church so he needs to leave early.

I was thinking of trying to get to the barn since Whirl decided to kill his legs somehow and they're all hot and swollen but I'm not sure I can make it. I want to hop on him and walk him around - hoping that the walking will help to drain some of the fluid. I guess that will have to wait until tomorrow. His owner has been hand walking him and hosing him down, so that should help. Dumb horse.

Good morning all,

Well, the flu bug is still hanging around inside my tummy. I wanted to start my holiday cleaning and baking, but not today...

Once our school day is over (which should be before noon) I am going to hit the couch and commiserate with myself and I might just get some :sleeping_2: .

Y'all have a good day,

Another great rainy day! I get to stay indoors and play.

I think this has more to do with how we dress than the up and down temperatures. Put a jumper on and leave it once the first cooler weather hits. It will absorb any extra perspiration and remain a barrier against the changing weather. Works for me, anyway. Then, maybe it is all in the beard!

Cheers everyone. Enjoy your day whatever it brings.

Annsni....Horses aint dumb...but we can be!! Don't take it too personal, I raised a few in my yunger days!! If legs are swollen, yes walk him/her but don't put no extra weight on by sittin on them. If you have a pasture then just turn him loose to run....critters ain't dumb....I've learned with BH it seems they're a lot smarter than all our "caretaking" sometimes!!!

No worries about the extra weight - this guy is a brute (17.1 hands) and my 140 lbs. won't make a big difference to his 1500 lbs. His big problem is that when he's out in the pasture, he likes to just stand there - which doesn't do much to get rid of the fluid. I can also encourage his leg movements while on him (we train in dressage so we've gotten to the point where my leg influences his leg) and I can get him to move them well to stretch and get the swelling down. I'm just gonna do light walking in our small arena. I'll use this time to work on my seat, which always needs work! LOL!! I also need to try out some new equipment on him (new bridle, new saddle pad, new girth) and not doing heavy work to start with all of that will help a lot to adjust to it.

Nope, I have to say, Starr is smart but Whirl is pretty dumb. How many 17.1 hand horses do you know who canter in a 15' X 15' stall??? Yep - I'm convinced we can do canter pirouettes.

Good morning all,

The flu must have been the 24-hour kind. PTL! I feel fine this morning.

It is raining and very windy and will stay that way the rest of the week. It will be in the low 40's. That means that I will be putting bowls under all the drips on the sunporch - again...

Brent is going to bake me a birthday cake for tomorrow (all by himself). He is so sweet! Wonder if I can get him to cook supper too?

I need to make a run to the post office again today, but other than that, I'm staying in until church tonight. Rain and I don't get along very well when it's cold outside.

Time for coffee,

Good Morning Everybody,

Isn't it amazing how the flu can tell time? I wonder if it automatically adjusts for Daylight Savings Time?

I brought in Hashbrown Breakfast Casserole, Pineapple Almond Coffeecake, and Berries with Orange Scones . Enjoy.

Today is a slow day [for a change], so after I get my chores done I can relax for a little while.

Whew! Sorry I'm late guys. I got up late today (again), had to rush the kids to get Jo to preschool, then Robby had a dentist appointment - 2 filings done. :BangHead: Fortunately, they're small so no novicane and they went very quickly. After that, we ran back to church, did some school and then picked up Jo, then came home. We're just having lunch so I thought I'd hop on the computer quickly. I'm going to go riding later (have to call the owner to find out what Whirl is up to doing with his swollen legs - I'm thinking just walking) and then DH and I are going out for dinner tonight. Even though it's not overly busy, it's busy enough. I also want to hit the grocery stores at some point to pick up turkey wings so I can make up the gravy for next week now. I HATE doing gravy at the last minute - this way I can relax once the turkey is done.
