If you church has small groups -
Does the church allow/encourage those small groups to have a communion service?
Would they be allowed/encouraged to have their own baptisms?

Communion and baptisms are a group or "family" activity but sometime there's more of the family present than others.

Small groups may hold communion but not at the expense of not participating with the larger body of believers a is our usual pattern.

There have been times where baptisms have been held in smaller groups but we encourage them to be done in the larger body because it is a particular time of celebration.

This is not really a problem so long as it does not replace doing it with the church as a whole.

Baptism is both a celebration and part of our testimony as Christians. It should be done in front of as many people as possible. This would be completely discouraged.

1 Corinthians 5 demonstrates this is a "WHOLE LUMP" (body) ordinance as the Lord's Supper is in view as "Christ our passover" where "unleavened bread" is involved that symbolizes the church body at Corinth.

The sin of one member leavens the "WHOLE lump" and the removal of one member from the church body makes it a "NEW lump."

Communion represents the "WHOLE" church body observing it and symbolizes the unity of that WHOLE body in doctrine and practice as division in the body causes it to cease being the Lord's Supper - 1 Cor. 11:17-20.

Both baptism and communion are church ordinances rather than Christian ordinances.

I see no problem with doing communion in small groups. Often it works well.

No particular problem with baptism, either.

This is my view, as well.

Small groups are not "the church."
