I know you are looking for something simple. But the sinners prayer isn't it. Only those drawn by God the Father will be saved.

The problem is that nobody can or is willing to embrace the gospel before they are born again, regeneration has to precede faith.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The natural man in that verse is not a reference to a lost person.

Paul uses the word "natural" to refer to someone still in his original (sinful) state, prior to conversion. The Greek word ψυχικος - psuchikos (“natural”) can be defined as “animal,” as opposed to “spiritual” πνευματικός -pneumatikos

Paul refers to "natural" or human wisdom verses spiritual wisdom which of course either one can be used by regenerate people.

No, Paul is contrasting the lost, and how they think, and the saved, and how they think.

All married men must be "puffed up and proud."

Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Was true once, The Father passed that drawing job to the Son.

    John 12

32“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

All men are drawn by Jesus Christ.

Jesus says "whosoever believes has eternal life". So if a person "goes forward" they already have eternal life if they believe enough to go forward. What they need to hear about is believer's baptism and repentance. This is how they "went forward" in the NT.

    Consider the service....

    1. Many people in an auditorium
    2. Well dressed and dignified
    3. An invitation to salvation is given!

I believe it is a tough move for anyone to move and go forward to accept the invitation for salvation!

Thanks rockytopva for sharing. I know this is common practice, but in the NT they told believers to repent and be baptized. The alter call has replaced this as part of the gospel message and leads people to believe their works saved them. When in fact, God had saved them before they went forward.
