It seems to me from my own personal reading that many "mainstream" conservative commentaries are reformed leaning. While generally sticking to believers baptism and such they tend to imply calvinism. When I mean "mainstream", I am refering to
NICNT: New Internatioal commentary new testament
NIGTC: New International Greek testament commentary
BECNT: Baker Exegetical commentary new testament
PNTC: Pillar New Testament Commentary
and the conservative entries of the WBC (Word Biblical Commentary).
Anyway, I am only drawing from my own experience which is as follows,
Carson: John (PNTC)
Schreiner: Romans (BECNT)
Moo: Romans (NICNT)
Mounce: 1 Timothy (WBC)
Lane: Mark (NICNT)
Hafemann: 2 Corinthians (NIVapp)
O'Brien: Ephesians (PNTC)
and so on, I am getting tired of thinking of them. Can anybody else confer with my intuition on this one? Are most commentary writers in these series reformed or am I just reading the ones that are?
